Geez, you can almost feel the hate radiating from some posts here. I can't imagine the level of glee on this board if we swing and miss on both of these recruits.

I think they will very likely be happy, although a powerful Memphis BB program is in the enlightened self interest of AAC members. Studies show (in principle) many people would rather have $3 and their neighbor $0 than $5 and $10, respectively.

It can easily be argued that if a business is based in a city that the player is more valuable to the business if they play in that city...Not really that hard.

Becomes harder to make that argument with a multi-national corporation though...Honestly I am not sure how a corporation can justify large payments...Unless those costs are offset somehow...(Fred essentially saying instead of paying me pay the kid)

One Unique thing about Memphis and Fed-Ex is Memphis plays in the Fed-Ex Forum...Tie those two together you can easily say the more exposure the Tigers get the more value they get out of those naming rights.

It really depends on the context. In a world where purchasing power is greater then, yes I would rather have $3 and my neighbor. However, if the value of money is equal in both scenarios, give me $5 and my neighbor $10.

NIL cant be used as a recruiting tool, memphis is playing with fire and seem to be proud of it...

there is already heavy debate about what miami almost did...a sponsor wanted to sponsor everyone on the miami football roster ..there was debate that it was a sneaky way to create a recruiting tool very indirectly.. noting the 75th players has no marketing value, why are you paying him.... the sneaky suspicion is that it was to create a recruiting tool.. "if you come to miami you are guaranteed a sponsorship" (sponsor had ties to miami)

memphis isnt even going about it in a indirect or sneaky way, you are going to the top 2 recruits and saying we'll give you big time sponsorship and money if you play for memphis

this is just asking for heavy trouble and playing with fire.. penny has already been in ncaa trouble, you just hired larry brown who is a regular for sanctions, but yet are choosing to be the school to push the limits of NIL with extremely high profile prospects

you guys better hope that fedex part stays just in the memphis papers and doesnt become a national story ...saying *ameturism is dead* wont stop the ncaa from deciding if they want to use memphis as an example
