What season do most think OU & UT begin playing in the SEC?

Also, how does ESPN get that done? payment to the Big 12 or placing schools elsewhere(I don't know if all schools need replaced or just a large majority like 8 of the 10 schools)? They had to have conversations about this ahead of time and how they would do it.

I think the easiest way is to let FOX and the B1G take USC plus 5 others and for ESPN to increase the new tv deal like FOX would. Then move ASU/AZ/Utah & Colorado to the Big 12. I don't know what this league would get but hopefully 20M+ for these schools. I could even see where UH & BYU would be good additions for this league but I don't know if they would add more schools than they had to.

If FOX, the B1G and USC doesn't bite and move forward with that ESPN could pretty easily distribute the remaining 8 schools and get this done right away.

The SEC got the lion share of the benefit and wouldn't surprise me if they agreed to be willing to take 2 more schools to make it happen even if the teams were not decided yet.

The ACC has no negotiating power with ESPN because they are solely owned by ESPN for some time. If ESPN says take WVU & Baylor we will pay you 3-5M more per school between T1 & T2 and the network I can't see the ACC declining.

The PAC is a little less tied to ESPN but that might be their problem. If USC, UCLA, Or & UW are to stay in the PAC they need more money. If ESPN paid them a little more to take KSU, TT & OSU & TCU they probably would. Maybe ESPN taking over their conference network becomes part of the plan also.

If the SEC took two more teams, they have Texas covered and OSU doesn't really add much for them. If they took two schools that looked good on their academic side from the remaining B12 they could add KU & ISU. It fits well with Missouri and has a long history with OU. Both of those two teams might be interesting playing Arkansas in the future. Any two that went to the SEC would take a reduced payout for some time also.

Even if scenario 2 happened this still will have given ESPN sole ownership of OU & UT and put them where they want the matchups. It also probably doesn't cost them anymore than a new B12 contract that would have included UT & OU and continuing the LHN.

Next year or OU and UT wait until GOR expires.

Fluge was tweeting Fox doesn’t want to overpay to get 6 PAC schools into the B1G. Maybe USC leaves on their own. A merger between the PAC and B12 is more likely.

Fluge reads this board. FOX would never mention it. The numbers say the B1G has 2 targets that match their profile to a certain extent and make them money: Notre Dame and Miami. The Big 10 can do nothing until Texas and Oklahoma show every one how to deal with a GOR. So when UT / OU is settled look for a raid of the ACC.

For the OP's question: 2022-3

That's a good point to note. Networks are quite controlled in their messaging. They release or "drop" information when and where it is deemed advantageous to them.

Comparatively, individual colleges, even conferences, have displayed less control of leaks and rumors when interests are divided and fans fuel often erroneous speculation.

I was surprised how strategic and organized ESPN, the SEC, Texas, and Oklahoma, were in coordinating the announcement of "the big move". Other SEC Presidents and ADS knew about the transaction forthcoming, but did not prematurely blab. Sankey and others handled this particular initiative masterfully.
