We’ve also never had the issues with the video board, so don’t know what happened last night as that is fairly new as well, but a new/large one is planned for in the renovation. There will also be a ribbon bar added along the edge of the east side coverings, along with a new sound system. I think the current video board will move to the Tigue once we get the new one.

That hill is a really a cool and great feature, and has been a great spot for families all these years. In fact, a consultant recently listed it as a top unique and fun feature as well. We always get a kick watching the kids playing on it. It’ll be interesting to see what is done with it after all the plans are done.

Don’t know where you were sitting, but there are lots of issues everywhere throughout the stadium, but especially the huge upper deck. Some of the ones on the east side were addressed this past summer, but the entire UD will all be coming down, and not a moment too soon.

We do have great food options (no surprise there), as I had some of that great jambalaya and there were people eating Deano’s pizza all around us.

Have to say while still a bit less than desired the size the crowd was decent and more importantly were more engaged than I’ve seen in a long time….esp the students. Hope we can build on that, as we need to.

Keep going to the games and bring those kids. They’ll eventually see the (vermilion) light!

Glad you went and and appreciate the support.
The issue with the turf was the coloration and shape. It may just need a fluff and new paint applied to the end zones (issue with using red is that South La sun doesn't take long to start making it look pink and faded). I guess I just came to the wrong game for the video board then, as it was a glaring issue last night. Lighting isn't something that seems like a big issue until you've watched games under upgraded lighting, it takes away shadows you didn't know were there and just makes everything pop more. The sound wasn't horrible, but just high distortion and quality issues which is highlighted by the acoustics down in the bowl, not as bad on the sides but definitely resonates in the south end zone and the corners (Tech has the same issue at the Joe). Ribbon bar will be nice, not sure what lighting y'all are going with but the high end lighting with some well orchestrated ribbon graphics can make some incredible light displays.

We were on the East side, right behind the students in the section beside Apps fans, but floated around in the second half to check the stadium out. Food selection was good, I liked the fact I could get Coke and not Pepsi. I will say though seeing the Natty Lights for sale at the concession caused me to chuckle.

So again, what non-UL fans call us, whether in the state, out of state, on message boards, etc., matters not. Not one teeny bit.

Everything on your schools website says "University of Louisiana at Lafayette" lol. Links to class registration, sporting events, newsletters - all of it. Sorry, but yall will always be ULL or Lafayette.

https://www.louisiana.edu/

Just my personal opinion, but I think they would be better served emphasizing their nickname "the Ragin' Cajuns" such that everyone knows them as such. No, TV Networks won't use it in their graphics but everyone else would, including the guys calling the games. It is unique and truly one of the best nicknames in college sports. Kind of like "the Fightin' Irish."

Again, just my opinion, but getting sports' fans to embrace "the ULL Ragin' Cajuns" and then just "Ragin' Cajuns" provides more attention to their programs then a bland sounding and confusing "University of Louisiana" and the shortened "Louisiana."

I think Tech fans actually don't care if the school in Lafayette, Louisiana refers to itself as "Louisiana." It does tweak the much more despised Louisiana-Monroe, and we get a kick out of that. But, mostly, Tech fans enjoy riling up our Ragin' Cajun friends and we can always get a response from them by bringing up "the name thingy." 04-rock

How ironic though. ULALA fans want everyone to call them "Louisiana", and they don't even call themselves that on their own web site. That web site is loaded with examples of them calling themselves "ULL", "UL Lafayette" and the "University of Louisiana at Lafayette". I'm sorry, that's just funny. 03-lmfao

University of Louisiana at Lafayette is the name of our university. You will not find an official reference to ULL. Louisiana is our athletic nickname. It is really hard to believe you are this dense. Stop making stuff up. Its buffoonish.

See! 04-cheers

Yeah forgot to mention that the lighting is also horrendous and will be addressed in the renovation. When we upgraded at the Tigue a few ago the impact was tremendous so we definitely know how much it is needed.

Yep, when we scored a TD against SLU and they started blinking. That was pretty cool.

Ok sicem. I just re-watched most of the game and you’re right about the field. It is getting a little tattered. Guess they’re so many other issues I hadn’t really noticed that. Takes a fresh pair of eyes to see things sometimes.

Are they LED? When we redid the CajunDome a few years ago, they did LED lighting and the difference was incredible, in person and on tv.

Yes, they installed LED lighting as well as controls that slow for "light shows" although at this point I still think they are working out all the programming and we've gotten a heartbeat effect, dancing lights, and some full on rave effects. The Shack and TAC also have had LED systems installed. They went with a no shadow system at the Shack that is absolutely amazing. Have only seen volleyball at the TAC since those were installed, but I am pretty sure those are supposed to have control systems for light shows as well.

Below is the only video I could really find on it 2:46:10 is when they start going off after the end of the game.

A lot of the stuff I saw, I saw because I've seen the night and day when Tech replaced theirs in the past season or two. I know the board and sound system is on the dept to do list, but also have heard ear to the ground there are a couple good projects upcoming ahead of them they are finalizing some funding for. If those are to the scale and level to which has floated then the video board and sound can wait another few years if they can't add those in to the budget for the projects.

That is super cool. They have effects for the CajunDome lights but that would be an extra pizazz at the football and baseball fields.

Yeah, the light show at the Cajun Dome during games is very nice. I really like the way the aisles are now,lit red as well. And I don’t know if they are LED, but the new lights at the Tigue are pretty awesome, and we’re much needed.

It may not matter on a message board, but I know in the state of Louisiana. No non-ULL fan here is going to call you "Louisiana". Got to give props to whoever set that extension up. That is hilarious.
Maybe, maybe not. But I can promise that anyone in our conference will refer to us correctly, as will all the major media outlets, the ncaa, etc., etc., etc.

Yep - I do admit that it's a shame in some ways that us and ULL aren't in the same conference - in state rivalries like Tech vs ULL are what makes conferences interesting

Impressive game against App St Cajuns

We just redid our lighting and it made a world of difference.

Definitely don't realize how big of an upgrade it is until you experience it. Lighting in the Joe, Love Shack, and in the TAC now are all incredible.
Yep, when we scored a TD against SLU and they started blinking. That was pretty cool.

Are they LED? When we redid the CajunDome a few years ago, they did LED lighting and the difference was incredible, in person and on tv.

Yes, it makes a huge difference for night games. My kids freak out everytime we score a TD or do something big enough to flicker the lights. Back in my day it took 20 good minutes for them dudes to warm up.

Hey A41: I fixed this for you with the correct names, and as they are listed in the article. Explain again why you felt the need to alter the name? Especially since you claim to be this neutral, unbiased source? LOL. That kind of petty, childish behavior proves otherwise.

Why did you edit Lafayette out of it? Are you so embarrassed to have your real name used? Is something wrong with putting Lafayette there? I didn't think you would be ashamed of Lafayette. I've never seen someone triggered by seeing their full name used.

Why he did it? I would guess he made sure that no one confuses you with your sister school UL-Monroe since you both changed your names, both have similar names and both are in the sun belt. A lot of similarities between the schools so for casual fans it's easy to see Louisiana and wonder if it means Louisiana-Lafayette or Louisiana-Monroe. He's just trying to help people know that it's the sister school in Lafayette. You should be thankful, you don't want to be confused with your sister school do you?

He doesn't like the Lafayette there. He's ashamed of the city of Lafayette, and I wanted to make sure the school's proper name all fit in one line with the correct UL school denoted. Also, this is the Conference USA forum. If he expects me to kiss UL-Lafayette's ass on this board, he's sadly mistaken.

Will you still post this type of nonsense when CUSA is decimated in 4-6 weeks?

Define "decimated." Losing a couple of schools or even four to the AAC and Southern Miss to the Slum Belch isn't considered decimation in my book. You sure do have a hard-on for Conference USA dissolving.

I guess Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, and Florida International going Independent is the only way you can cure that erectile dysfunction you struggle with?

This is the matchup I want this year.. Since you have such a hard on for Tech you are going to regret ever mouthing off.

Me too. I sincerely hope LA Tech draws ULALA in the NO Bowl. I saw those sissies play last week, and LA Tech will beat them big.
Oh my. How things have changed drastically from just a couple of weeks ago.
Or, maybe it was just wild talk from folks who do not have grasp on reality. Then or now.

Imagine having a team that is hugely less ‘manly’ than a bunch of ‘sissies.’

RE: [split] Bowl Projections (Lafayette Edition)
I have no dog in the fight of Louisiana schools/athletics/politics. It’s bad enough fighting the slow fight for political backing in WV with the money all siphoning to Morgantown.

However, Louisiana’s rebranding is perfect IMO. But they still need to walk the walk. Which they are doing. Can’t say I care much about ULM, Troy, USA, or Texas State (another rebrand).
Missouri State did the same thing.

Regardless, you have to commit to facilities and budget if you want to make it. And I see that going up in the new SBC over the next 5-7 years. $15M budgets, old falling behind facilities, and no actual primary fans/donors for some of the schools may cause them to fall far behind IMO. We shall see.

I’m excited for Louisiana, AState, and Southern Miss in the west. That’s about it.
I’d rather have ECU and USF than the others. Even UAB to bridge that gap because they’ve invested. I can see the SBC growing fast as far as top teams investing and growing faster than some of the others. $40-50M budgets and big time upgraded FB/BB facilities, as well as Olympic sports facilities needs to be the focus.

SBC East is going to be a sick division. Looking forward to that challenge.

No Ill will toward anyone from CUSA. Hope everyone does their thing.
I’m SBC all the way at this point.
