So the *smoke* around USM and Marshall going to the SBC is getting closer to being a fire. Just a random thought. What if C-USA became a football only conference and everyone else put their Olympic sports in leagues that make more sense?

WKU could go to the MVC or A-10
ODU could go to the CAA or A-10
MTSU could go to the ASUN or OVC
FIU could go to the ASUN
UTEP could go to the WAC
LaTech could go to the ASUN

Then you add UMass, NMST, and UConn football only.

Doesn't have to be a permanent solution, but could be a 5 year plan to see what happens in the next round and make plans from there.

Several of us have contemplated that but until the NCAA changes it's rules, a football only conference isn't on the table. The SBC is a football only conference, not technically, but might as well be.

I suppose it could be a contracted scheduling agreement with each school constantly looking for the nearest exit.

The only smoke about this is coming from SBC and So Miss message boards.

There already is a football-only conference. It's called the Sun Belt.

There already is a football-only conference. It's called the Sun Belt.

And once Memphis and Wichita leave, the AAC will challenge them for that title.

Most importantly are NCAA credits and AQ tournament participant. You don't want that.

Pretty sure this is currently against NCAA rules. I believe it's how the Yankee Conference became the A10 Football Conference.
