Probably need to review contractual spending to balance the budget before the school shuts down like the government.

Meeting is now adjourned and the media was not allowed in for the executive session.

My guess is it's in relation to the football coach's contract. I'm betting he's being heavily courted by some P5 school(s).

Extending his contract another 4 years with an additional few hundred thousand won't stop him from leaving when a P5 offers 4 years @$5million/yr.

There's no doubt about that. If a P5 wants him, they'll get him. Granted, CCU has to try.

Agreed and if you have a coach that a P5 program doesn't eventually want....you may not have the right coach...*cough* MT *cough*

Marshall learned that the hard way, sure winning 7 or 8 games a year and going to a bowl is good, but it ain't GREAT.

“Contractual matters”? That could literally be anything. It could be an employment contract. It could be a construction contract. It could be a memorandum of understanding with some organization in their community.

You don't raise his salary to keep him, you raise it because you can get the votes for that, and then it gives you more to recruit the next coach.

*cough* Membership Vote *cough*

Coastal can't do anything with out board approval. And there was already a scheduled board meeting next week.

Sounds good but show me where that's actually worked out at this level?

Most of the winning coaches at this level were hired as first time FBS head coaches. With that they are willing to take less money starting out for the chance of more when they win and move on.

The only time a school is in a position of power is the first contract the coach signs. Just because you can paid him 1.2 million doesn't mean you couldn't have got the same coach for $750,000

If you have an example of that actually taking place I would like to see how a few 100k more helped attract a winning coach that wouldnt have took the same job at a lower starting pay
