Part of the law that restricted the use of student fees also has a clause that a school wishing to reclassify from fcs to fbs has to have approval from state congressional group or something along those lines.

Word on the street is that if Glenn Youngkin is elected governor of Virginia in two weeks, he will block JMU's ascension to C-USA in order to spite WKU and Marshall for all Rice's losses on the gridiron and hardwood over the years 03-wink!

Just kidding of course-but has the seeds of a nice conspiracy.

If Southern Miss is the one doing the aiming, we have nothing to worry about... your athletic department hasn't actually accomplished anything successfully in the last decade.

If we hear NOTHING by the end of the day, I will start to get worried. And agree with the Southern Miss posters.

Hell 12 hours is a LONG time considering the way things have accelerated this week.

I had read somewhere Marshall wanted to wait until Monday, but that decision will most likely leak out one way of the other before then.

Actually, they've successfully killed most of the interest in the program..... how does it feel being wrong, smart guy?

We're just having fun. I don't think anyone on either side of the Southern Miss or Marshall side is harboring any ill will here.

I actually agree with the premise of this thread. A decision needs to come out soon either way.

I just think the premise that Marshall is doing anything wrong by presumably doing their due diligence while we're fully committed to the SBC is funny. We're going with or without you is my understanding.

maybe, idk. How long did it take the Big12 to do something after texas and oklahoma left. How long did it take for the american to move once their 3 left. I would hope the leagues and the schools have their contingencies in place before something happens but who was expecting 6 teams to leave cusa at once. A lot to figure out and negotiate after a move that big.

I thought we weren't going to hear anything until next week?

Plus, I thought the hold up was SB deciding between WKU and JMU?

I had read the Sun Belt west was less than receptive to WKU. If true, that's a shame.

They, along with ODU, would immediately improve Sun Belt basketball. Are a cultural fit. Have a proven football program.

All things JMU do not offer. Sure, they have potential. But let's leave the potential teams to the AAC.

ODU fans, I have a question. You would know more than most.

Would JMU fit culturally with us in the Belt? Are their fans as passionate as the southern based programs?

Relax man. What's the rush? We have to find a home for our Soccer program since the Sunbelt doesn't sponsor soccer. We just won a National Championship with our program for crying out loud and ranked in the top 5 again. You guys don't have any worry because you don't have a Soccer program. Let it play out.

Don't you have about 18 months after giving notice before leaving Cusa? Plenty of time to solve your soccer problem.

They definitely have strong fan support and I think average around 24k in football attendance. Keep in mind they are playing the likes of Elon or whoever. I think they would have even greater support if they played an FBS schedule. That's just my opinion though.

They have historically been not very good to straight up awful in basketball, but they did just finish the construction on a brand new arena, so the administration at least cares about improving it, unlike some of our current CUSA members.

I think the block of UL, ULM, stAte, and USA are not big fans of WKU due to us leaving. The SBC east seems to be on board. The irony is that someone is name dropping us as #12 if Marshall doesn't decide soon, probably as a scare tactic. If we are the backup for #12 then you would think we are a shoe in for #14.

Soccer should be easy.
1) ACC
2) MAC
3) Bring back Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Georgia Southern for Sun Belt. I think App State could resurrect their program under those circumstances

You guys know this. It takes a few years to get your feet wet to playing FBS football. And Sun Belt football will be no joke. I hope their fan base understands it will not be an easy transition.

And JMU. I mean, there is plenty enough to build soccer around.

The bulk of Marshall schedule will still consist of a very strong OOC slate.
