Who would be the top replacement for Memphis if they leave?
Memphis has one foot out the door. SMU and USF are not far behind them. Let’s assume it’s only Memphis to the Big 12 for now… who is replacing them?

Is the Big 12 looking to expand to 14? Or is another conference looking to raid the Big 12? I don't think any AAC programs are leaving, at least not in the near future.

It’s just that the calculus has changed now that the Sun Belt appears significantly stronger than before. Would GSU make a jump for a few hundred thousand more?

At present, Memphis' football team is ranked behind SMU, UTSA, UAB, FAU, & Tulsa, so they would only have the sixth place team in AAC 2.0 if it existed today.
Memphis' BB program is much stronger than its FB program, this season, so the conference should make it a priority to find a high-quality replacement for Memphis
FB and BB programs.
SUNY-Buffalo has had more BB success in recent years than any of the schools on this list.
