This isn't a criticism of his contract...but I just love when these guys (any big contract, coach, ad, whatever) get a car allowance. Pay for your own damn car...and while you are at it pay for you own country club membership! Geeze...the I need it for free mentality.

You remember the old BCS bowl CEO contracts.

One guy was getting paid 6 figures, had a free Mercedes, free airline tickets to any college game in the country along with tickets. His staff was well paid too.

This guy only worked one day a year the rest he was partying with ADs.

Its in the Death to the BCS book.

RE: North Texas AD signs huge extension
This is great news for North Texas. Wren Baker has done a tremendous job! Each head coach he's hired has done a good to great job. His pattern has been to hire coaches with head coaching experience. Following that I do not believe Seth Littrell would have been hired if Baker had been the AD at the time. I suspect he will hire a head football coach from a smaller school or perhaps one of the P5 head coaches who will lose their job this fall.

the "courtesy car" is provided by a local dealer for sure and when Wren leaves one day north Texas state fans can cry when he just leaves it in long term parking at DFW with the keys in it when he flies out

the $7,200 in cash is probably paid by the same dealer so that he stands by the car at some events for a bit and talks about it to people or so that it has a sign on it and probably so he does not have to worry so much about tracking mileage for taxes he can just tell himself he is paid to drive "his car" for business

the country club is probably more business though and probably with the school paying that and saying it is needed for "business" he is not taxed on it.....but the CC does not allow a "business" as a member thus the member has to be the AD as a person

it does always seem funny though that is mentioned when they can clearly afford a car or CC membership

what I do not understand is how anyone thinks he has done this amazing job truth be told north Texas state was lucky to get in the tournament last year and easily could have missed it and probably will not go this year....Seth was not his hire and the good years of Seth were not the work of the AD and the extension was and then the bad years of Seth happened

the Olympic sport "success" is mostly wining those sports in a league that is pretty weak in those sports and doing nothing nationally relevant after that

the facilities are 95% on the backs of student fees and academic side transfers any AD could have done that if they had an administration that would hand the the money

the HARD WORK of donor support, ticket sales, alumni club money, licensing ect has pretty much remained consistently LOW for such a "sleeping giant" (in a coma at this point and on life support)

getting into the AAC was more an act of desperation by another "wonder boy" of a conference commissioner that was suppose to "go gagsta" on the Big 12 and tear it apart with "ESPN got our bacc dawg" and wonder boi gangsta stood there and watched meh commissioner Bowlsby and the Big 12 make a phone call and take 2 of their top 3 teams and then also their own poor decision adding UH

the next two or three years will tell if this is north Texas state trying the UH method of "throw money at it and tell everyone about it" or if he can actual capitalize on the AAC with private dollars and ticket sales and not on the backs of students

Yeh, not sure why the continuing dislike for all things North Texas. He got screwed somewhere along the way to constantly hate and belittle North Texas. A sad little man.

Its only like this when something positive for NT happens. So i take this as a great sign. If Todge Rodge is mad about it, then its good for NT

the facilities are 95% on the backs of student fees and academic side transfers any AD could have done that if they had an administration that would hand the the money

the HARD WORK of donor support, ticket sales, alumni club money, licensing ect has pretty much remained consistently LOW for such a "sleeping giant" (in a coma at this point and on life support)

getting into the AAC was more an act of desperation by another "wonder boy" of a conference commissioner that was suppose to "go gagsta" on the Big 12 and tear it apart with "ESPN got our bacc dawg" and wonder boi gangsta stood there and watched meh commissioner Bowlsby and the Big 12 make a phone call and take 2 of their top 3 teams and then also their own poor decision adding UH

the next two or three years will tell if this is north Texas state trying the UH method of "throw money at it and tell everyone about it" or if he can actual capitalize on the AAC with private dollars and ticket sales and not on the backs of students

You are without a doubt, the biggest UNT hater I have ever seen. Even some of the UNT Trolls on GMG can be funny on occasion. You just have pure hatred in your blood. Congrats !

It’s actually pretty funny. And he’s right on several points.
And when did you become an authority on the University of North Texas?05-nono

If UNT has money for exit fees, entrance fees, and AD extensions, then they better have money for Littrell's buyout. 05-mafia

RE: North Texas AD signs huge extension
Not sure where else to ask this question, but it doesn't warrant a new thread so i'm hoping this group can provide some wisdom.

Currently looking to visit the Lone Star State and catch the UMass v. North Texas Basketball game in December being played at the Dickies Arena and I could use some advice on what part of town to stay in. Will be getting in Friday and hoping to have a nice Southern Style dinner then head out for drinks somewhere in an entertainment district or river walk type environment. Would even consider hitting up a few college bars if there is an area like that.

Full day of hoops on Saturday will require some more adult beverages Saturday night as well.

So 1) What part of town (or specific hotels) do you all recommend.
2) What are some must see places to visit, eat at, or have a drink.

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure UNT is gonna do what everyone else has done.. Not pay the full amount or forfeit the next two payouts.

Entrance fee I can't help you with that.
