RE: MTSU facility update
Should be formally announced Monday with construction on phase one completed by start of 2024 season. I assume this was the major factor in staying in CUSA over the MAC.

“ Middle Tennessee State University has announced the first of a three-phase, $100 million-plus plan to upgrade athletics facilities, which is expected to be completed in 2024.

The first phase, for which the university has secured $66 million in funds, will include the new Student-Athlete Performance Center behind the north end zone at Floyd Stadium and additional improvements to the stadium.

Design of the new facility will begin immediately, with project completion expected before the start of the 2024 football season. The state building commission recently approved MTSU’s plans for the project.”

RE: MTSU facility update
Latest reports of money from departing teams is down to just 3 million for each of the five staying.

How does that make a significant dent in 66 million? How would that be worth turning down an invite to a league with much better long term prospects?

Will be interesting to see what it all comes out to in the end, but I don't think it's going to be $3M. Will try to break this down again in the most conservative way. The "exit fee" if you want to call it that is forfeiture of this year and next years distributions. That varies by school as some receive as little as $1.5M and as much as $3.5M in a single year. It's not clear if C-USA is going to force schools to give up what would have been their actual distribution or just create an average/negotiated amount of $3M per school (which is what it appears based on comments from Marshall and USM leadership). Pretty simply math there makes that $27M. So, roughly $5-$6M per year spread out over two years ($2.5M to $3M), which may where he's getting $3M (which is just for one year).

That said, it doesn't mean the five remaining won't also get their annual distribution too just because we're getting the shares of those leaving, which is going to be higher than average distributions because split five ways vs. 14 ways is a big difference.

Let's just break this down and make it even easier. C-USA distributes anywhere from about $36M to $45M annually. Even if a couple leave early, league distributions aren't going to change much over the next two years. Let's assume on the low end, the league distributes $35M each over the next two years.

The five remaining will get $7M this year and $7M next year. That's probably the most simplistic way to look at it give or take a million. The real number is probably somewhere between $14M to $20M impact over two years unless Judy goes a buys a bunch of jeeps. That is in contrast to - at least in MT's case - about $5M they would typically receive from the league over a two year period.

Kyle is factoring in one year of distributions not two (which even if it was negotiated to one would still be a lot of money). It’s not so much what we are gaining by staying in CUSA. It’s what we are avoiding by not going to the MAC. This is the easiest way I know to break it down:

Staying:
Add 6 million for shares over 2 years (3 per year)

Leaving:
Lose the 6 million for shares
Lose entrance fee 2 million reported
Lose exit fee two years revenue

That was my favorite feature cause there was no fan base that hated those steps more than the folks at wkcc. 03-lmfao

I was in the first MT class to graduate inside Murphy Center almost 50 years ago. Those Damn steps were made for GIANT People not mere mortals. The Glass House definitely needs more than a face lift.

Have we seen full exterior renderings of Murphy Center post renovation? From what I've seen it looks like it's at least possible the wookie steps live on in 3 of 4 corners.

Actually the SE and SW are ramped (always have been), not the steps like the NE (going away) and the NW steps.

I've always thought the whining by wky fans was funny. I always tried to jog up and take each rise only one step at a time. Still easy for this old man to do.

You must be 6" 5' or have Kangaroo jumpin abilities. Every time I tried to take 'em one step at a time; it was 'stumbin' bumblin' time! 03-lmfao

For me it's step/step and a half/step/step and a half...

Some sort of presentation at 5PM in MT Hall of Fame Bldg this afternoon before the women's basketball game in Murphy Center with Vanderbilt.

Tired cliches mostly.

Then to top off everything, Rick Stockstill speaks last. OMG.

Just dispirit the hell out of fans.

It sounded to me like he has no intention of going anywhere.
