I agree they should be, but I have just a little bit of concern about Oklahoma State.

Okie St can play two more ranked teams but they still have a loss. That's also a tough road to finish out. I believe win out and we're in.

ESPN CFP Predictor...

99% Georgia [11-0]
65% Cincinnati [11-0]
61% Ohio St [10-1]
60% Alabama [10-1]
53% Notre Dame [10-1]
29% Michigan [10-1]
22% Oklahoma St [10-1]
11% Oklahoma [10-1]
1% Baylor [9-2]
1% Ole Miss [9-2]

I could see them keeping a 2 loss Ohio State team at#4 if they lose a close game at Michigan. I think everyone involved would salivate at an Georgia-Ohio State/Alabama-Michigan final four.

I’d really like to not even think a 2 loss team is possible but I don’t trust this committee/system one bit.

But that two loss OSU team wouldn't even be playing in the B1G chip game - Michigan would. I don't see it happening with too many other one loss teams and [hopefully] an undefeated Cincinnati.

Frankly---the OP title was exactly correct. They ran out of excuses. Congrats to Cinci because they are the first G5 to stymie the committee. That takes some doing. Should have been there in the first CFP poll in my humble opinion---but at least they finally relented.

It’s crazy that Georgia is just assumed in the playoffs. Lose to Alabama? Who cares! We’ll give you another shot cause you’re SEC and we are hellbent on our narrative you’re the best team in the country. And they very well may be, but if they lose to Alabama then why are you going to make Alabama beat them twice?

We have got to move to a better system.

Congrats to Cincy! This is what this conference has been striving for since it was created. Still more work to do though.

On a related note, Cincy, Ok State, and Ohio State all have 1 common opponent. TULSA. The road to the CFP may run through 11th & Harvard.

Alabama’s contract has them automatically in with 3 or fewer losses.

Cinci could blow ECU out by 70 and OKSt could win by 1 on a last second blown call that saves their season....and they will still have OkSt jump Cinci. Just don't get your hopes up is all Im saying. Cinci really can do everything right but unlike other posters are saying...it is NOT in their hands.

If Houston #24 beats Cinci #2 in the CCG. How far do the bearcats fall and how high does Houston jump? I have no doubt they kept Houston from going higher to prevent the bearcats from playing anyone "ranked" but it would make for an awkward ranking with Cinci still ranked higher than a team that beat them. I know this is a what-if scenario but I find it comical how lopsided the rankings would look like because of the favoritism.

Congrats Cincy! Prove everyone wrong and win the CFP!

I wonder if there is a scenario we get Alabama, Georgia, Cincy and Notre Dame. The Alliance would be so upset!
Alabama beats Georgia.
Michigan beats Ohio State but loses the B1G championship game to Wisconsin.
Baylor beats Oklahoma State. (not an Alliance matchup but you know just to be safe)

That would be the most chaotic scenario.

It's mind-boggling that we don't hear more about that common opponent.

I mean the committee and national media have certainly talked about how Cincinnati performed against Tulsa (and Navy, etc). Surely they want to discuss how Oklahoma State's margin of victory over Tulsa was smaller than Cincinnati's? Or that mighty Ohio State was clinging to a seven-point lead over Tulsa until 3:07 left in the game (I just checked, the ESPN headline still says "OSU Struggles with Tulsa")?

Why is that not discussed more?
Weird. Inexplicable.

This. The committee does not act in good faith. I could see ND or any other P5 jumping Cincy at the last minute. Hell, ND even has a "quality loss".

Cincinnati is in great shape. I think there is only 1 scenario where Cincinnati would be left out if they went undefeated. That would be Alabama beating Georgia, Oklahoma State winning out and either Ohio State or Michigan winning out. I think that is the only scenario that would push Cincinnati to #5. Cincinnati needs either Alabama or Okie State to lose once. There might be a possibility of Oklahoma winning out leaping Cincinnati but that would be very close. I don't see a 2 loss team making the playoff.

Congrats to Cincy and the AAC, it's been a long time coming! So happy to finally see a team from this conference getting the recognition they deserve
