Question for WKU fans
Was Bryan Ellis that bad as the full time OC? All signs and smoke are pointing to us hiring him as our OC and based on the WKU offensive stats from 2019 and 2020, it seems like a very bad hire. Why was he kept around this year and not just fired when Kittley was brought in?

I don't think Ellis is awful, just didn't have a great amount of talent to work with and is a bit green still. He could work out for you guys, but is by no means a slam dunk.

RE: Question for WKU fans
Well, especially last year, the WKU qb couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn.

Hes not good. He was kept I guess because Helton likes the guy personally as they have been together for awhile at UAB and now WKU. Not sure you want him as a playcaller though. Was not impressed but like other WKU Fans, its hard to see when you have a QB who could not pass the ball...

Well lucky for us, we don't have a QB on the roster that can hit the broadside of a barn either. Most already have their pitchforks ready if that's who Helton hires as OC.

RE: Question for WKU fans
I will say on Ellis to put in perspective he called a fantastic bowl game against Memphis a few seasons ago after Brohm left for Purdue. Play calling was fantastic that game. Not sure why it did not translate the last two seasons. But we also did not have a lot to work with either.

I was gonna say much the same. It's hard to judge a guy without looking at a complete body of work.

RE: Question for WKU fans
Ellis was awesome in the Bowl game vs Memphis and studied under Jeff Brohm. He did a great job adapting to Ty Storey at QB in 2019 dropping 45 pts on Arkansas.

In 2020, he had had the good fortune of having PiggyT at QB. I don’t think Nick Saban, Lincoln Riley, Bill Bellicheck combined could make PiggyT and good passing QB. Even those coaches would look awful with him at QB.

He’ll do a good job there…
