Penny is not on the hot seat. He has a long way to go to get there.

He has a lot more leeway with Memphis than a normal coach. Especially with his ability to recruit.

He is certainly the #2 Memphis basketball icon of all time, behind Larry Finch. Will take a lot more before he gets dumped.

The entire city is pulling for him to be successful.
