RE: TV Ratings CCG Weekend
CUSA has the worst tv deal. I guess there numbers aren't included because CBSSN isn't basic cable...

Pretty decent AAC showing considering they were stuck going head to head with the kingpin SEC. The MW and Sunbelt also shared the same time slot.

It was poorly attended in person as well, at 57,856 the lowest attendance of the ACC CCG's in Charlotte, aside from last years game with restricted attendance.
It's a long term trend for the ACC, aside from last years ND-Clemson game which was the most watched ACC CCG ever.

More like P3, G3, and then everyone or anyone else. When you get 10 million in disparity you aren't in the same demographic and if you can't draw 1 million you aren't in the same one as those who draw up to 4 million. When eyeballs equal revenue the numbers matter, even if your schools are old and established.

Also a very good showing for Big12 that didn't include OU or Texas.
New Big12 is looking strong in the tv numbers.

so much of the games not SEC or Big Ten is the CFP consequences. Big 12 had it. ACC didn't.

The Big12 killed the PAC without OU and Texas. This is a great indicator that the New Big12 tv deal should be better than the PAC tv deal.

I disagree. The average home attendance for Wake was 29K this year. Average home attendance at Pitt was about 45K.
I know Wake sold its entire allotment.

RE: TV Ratings CCG Weekend
Let’s not go overboard here.
There has been a consistent pattern since the start of the CFP that the SEC CCG gets a massive rating, the Big Ten receives a notch lower rating (assuming that at least one team is in the playoff hunt), and then everyone else is fairly meritocratic based on playoff implication importance. There are a couple of exceptions (such as last season with the Clemson-ND ACC CCG or the couple of times where the Big Ten CCG didn’t have playoff implications), but that’s generally how it plays out. If you swapped the rankings of the Big 12 and ACC CCG participants, the viewership numbers would have swapped, too. I don’t believe that the name brands of the schools involved mattered in those games beyond their respective rankings. In contrast, both the SEC and Big Ten had blue blood marquee programs playing for playoff spots, which is where you really see a big spike in viewers. It was a similar thing with the ACC CCG last year.

RE: TV Ratings CCG Weekend
ACC Title Game Attendance
21 - Pitt/WF 58K
19 - CU/UVa 66K
18 - CU/Pitt 67K
17 - CU/Miami 74K
16 - CU/UVa 51K
15 - FSU/GT 65K
14 - FSU/Duke 68K
13 - FSU/GT 65K
13 - VT/CU 74K
12 - VT/FSU 72K
Wake Forest had just 7 days to sell tickets to people who knew that WF would be in Charlotte. Pitt had two weeks. I think they did pretty well.

Separately, I don't know how the ACC can look at these numbers and be the most tepid about playoff expansion. From what I've seen and heard, they're really the ones that are most wedded to various demands/proposals more so than the Big Ten and Pac-12 in the Alliance. It's a totally different level of viewership if that Pitt-Wake game is a de facto playoff play-in game.

The B12 is in fine shape going forward.
The PAC and ACC need to figure out how to improve football.

The ACC should be pounding the table for CFP expansion. In an expanded playoff, that Pitt-WF game suddenly matters, and the ratings would reflect likewise.

If there's been a downward trend, it may be because Clemson fans are probably getting tapped out in terms of travel and tickets, and the easiest postseason game to skip (for them) has been the conference championship.
As for this year, I think it would've been a sell-out if NC State hadn't tripped all over themselves against Wake Forest.
Unfortunately, ACC attendance varies a lot from school-to-school.
Wake is the smallest school in the P5 - not just the ACC, but the whole P5. The whole student body isn't big enough to fill half of that stadium! I got the impression that Pitt represented fairly well in Charlotte - but they aren't going to fill it up all by themselves. Give us another VT/FSU or UNC/Clemson matchup and attendance will be just fine.
