Gasparilla Bowl sold out (UCF v UF)
So we sold out this game in Ray Jay stadium. Capacity is 65.5K approximately. They’re going to open up standing room only soon.

WOW. Great to have a meaningful Pre-Christmas bowl. I was there for the Bad Boy Motors Bowl vs. Marshall. Going to a game is always good but even better when there is something on the line. Ray Jay is not a great place for a college game for me. Mostly because the music, commercials and sound effects from the scoreboard tend to drown out the fan participation. Too sterile. Felt the same way in Atlanta. But with the size of the crowd it may not be as bad.

I would think UF would have travelled better to their reg season game there against usf before their spirits were crushed as their season fell apart.

UCF turns out big for this one. Raymond James continues to be a home field advantage every time we play there

RE: Gasparilla Bowl sold out (UCF v UF)
Stadium Capacity is 65,618
Gasparilla Bowl Attendance Record: 28,987 (2019 UCF/Marshall)
Stadium Attendance Record: 74,512 (2017 CFP National Championship)

It shouldn't be a surprise 2 in-state teams sold out an in-state NFL stadium. UF/usf this season had reported attendance of 66,646. So its already been done at Raymond James this season.

So getting to the 65k mark should have been the minimum expectation. I think the real test will be if the bowl organizers can get this standing room only tickets sold out too.

Hell yeah. I can't say I came up with this but someone on Twitter said to the effect:
"I hope Florida isn't treating this as a lower tier bowl because UCF will be there 10 hours before kickoff roasting an actual alligator."

RE: Gasparilla Bowl sold out (UCF v UF)
20K requests to UCF for tickets, UCF is having to assign rights to buy tickets based on priority points. I think it will be the first bowl that a UCF booster might not be able to buy inflated cost tickets.

https://ucfknights.com/news/2021/12/10/u...hours.aspx

Here are details on 2021 Gasparilla Bowl tickets:

All tickets requested by Shareholders Society members and season-ticket members will be fulfilled through the UCF allotment in the lower levels of Raymond James Stadium (100-level and 200-level sections). Seating locations will be based on priority points. E-mails will be sent Saturday with seating locations.

UCF worked with the Gasparilla Bowl to secure an additional allotment of 300-level seats (on the UCF side of the stadium) for individuals who requested tickets through UCF but did not meet the priority point cutoff. Those fans will receive an e-mail Saturday at 9 a.m. ET with a link and code to purchase tickets directly through the bowl. Those tickets are available first-come, first served.

UCF sold its initial allotment of student tickets. Students whose orders were not fulfilled will receive an e-mail at 9 a.m. ET Saturday to order exclusive student tickets directly through the bowl.
Seating locations were allocated by priority points in the following order:

2021 Shareholders Society members (ranked in priority point order)
2021 Football season-ticket members (ranked in priority point order)
2021 ChargeOn Fund donors who are not football season-ticket members (ranked in priority point order)
General public (ranked in order by request date/time)

Very little chance the General Public will get tickets thru UCF. The secondary market will be pricey.

I am personally surprised UF didn't try to dodge the Knights.

It will likely be a defensive duel. If UCF couldn't score against a bad USF defense they are not scoring against a decent UF one.

What would have been any better option? Stay home?

^ It would have been way to obvious of a dodge this time around. I would of rather played when we were both having great seasons a few years ago than when we're both down this year but either way I'm good with it. A win here would give us a chance to tie up the series in '24.

Congrats on the sellout. The USF/Florida game earlier this year had 66K, so it's not surprising at all. Anthony Richardson killed us, he's a freak of nature. Emory Jones was OK but threw 2 picks. The dominated us in the first half, but the second half was super competitive in which USF actually won 17-7. This was before we went with McClain as our full time QB. I think Fortin played the first half and he's no longer with the USF program. You can stay with them, but I would give them a slight edge.

RE: Gasparilla Bowl sold out (UCF v UF)
65k for a 6-6 vs 8-4 P5/G5 matchup sounds so bizarre on paper. In an era when bowl games are often played in sparsely populated stadiums, especially this early in the bowl season, this will be notable.

Now let’s see if Gus has some tricks up his sleeve. The dismal offense that showed up to the Tulane and USF games ain’t gonna get it done.

Dare I say that this has all the potential to turn into a bad blood rivalry not unlike the UCF USF one. Only problem is the lack of consistent OOC games between them.

Dude calm down. The USF/Florida game was also announced as a sellout. I thought it was 66K, but maybe it was a hair under 65K, but really who cares. No one cares about an extra 500 fans. The fact is both games are/were basically sellouts. I was sincere when I said congrats on the sellout (although Gator fans have a lot to do with that). Just take the congrats and don't worry about 500 extra fans (if indeed you do have 65.5K). I don't go around scouring other teams box scores to see if we had 200 extra fans.

BTW I was serious you have a good shot at Florida, but would give them a slight edge. I don't follow Florida football, but I heard Anthony Richardson is out or injured. He's the one you have to worry about. He would run wild on your defense, guy is a freak. Emory Jones threw two picks vs. USF. If he plays and it sounds like he will, you should be in the game.
