Will LU women’s Lax get an invite to the Big East?

Sure hope so. Field hockey is doing well in and for the BE.

Swimming/diving is the other LU sports question. CUSA has S/D but most are leaving with the conference shift.

Edit: BE has swimming and diving. If CUSA does not keep the sport, maybe LU should try to get these sports in the BE.

The Big East is a conference we should be trying to get all sports into. I'll take whatever I can get if we aren't a full member.

Would we try to keep a relationship with the ASUN, staying in it for Lax?
Surely our AD has approached the BE to see if there is interest.

I imagine the ASUN doesn't want us to stay at anything unless they would lose an auto bid. It's just bad business to let a school stay in sports when they leave as a member. That's why UConn was not allowed to stay in football with the AAC.

If uconn was good at football the AAC probably would have let them stay but they were a liability. Our relationship with the ASUN is the opposite, we make them better as a conference. Whether they want to keep us around and dominate their conference is another thing entirely.

LU can expect no favors from the ASun with a membership created for them, unless as you say, a LU membership helps the ASun. The BE would be a huge improvement in non FB conference affiliation. One can hope.

McCaw should definitely consider establishing a women's golf program. Who knows if he is actually talking to Big East representatives, but women's golf, soccer and swim & diving would be the primary programs that McCaw should negotiate for associate membership alongside field hockey.
