Marshall you guys were one of the teams I look forward to playing when we joined the conference. I knew you guys were solid in football but didn't anticipate you being pretty good in basketball as well. You guys seemed to always be a thorn in our side when we were dominating CUSA basketball in years past kind of like we were to you guys in football when you were on top. You guys were one of the games I look forward to playing each year. I even made it up to Huntington to a game one year. Hope we still schedule OOC in football and basketball.

ODU I didn't know much about you guys when we joined but came to respect your basketball program immediately. You guys had some nice teams over the years with good fan support and top notch arena. Man, our basketball games were slugfest in years past. CUSA finals come to mind. It was fun having the win streak over you guys for so long. I know that had to be frustrating but you finally ended the last couple years. Football wise, it seemed like we never played in any important games against each other. Either, we were having a bad year or you guys were. Things never seemed to line up for us both to be good. However, there was a bit of a Rivalry boiling over from basketball. Like with Marshall I hope we're able to schedule OOC games in the future.

Thanks for the kind comments MT FAN. I feel many of the same things regarding MT as those that you stated. Your basketball teams led by Kermit were just a little bit too much for us but led to some very hard-fought games between the two teams. I was both sad and relieved to see him move on to the SEC. He and your MTSU teams were good for the conference.

There are some other schools that I am going to miss ODU having regular contest against. Schools like MTSU that were usually very competitive and had decent fan support - Charlotte, LA Tech, UAB, and WKU specifically. I'm hopeful that ODU will still find ways to schedule teams from those schools along with MTSU in baseball, basketball, and football as out of conference games from time to time. I wish your school and the rest of CUSA the best going forward.

Always fun playing MT and WKU. You both deserve better than Judy, though I guess MT thinks otherwise. Which should add some spice to your already testy rivalry. Hope we can still meet up in the OOC.

The MTSU is the one away game I made about every time. Have family in the area and was always a good trip. Gotta admit that I never cared for the announcer’s over the top accent but your fans were always super. I never made it from where I parked to the gate without being offered a beer. I made it to all the stadiums within driving distance at least once and MTSU was the one I went to the most.

I always thought our schools had a lot in common between most people outside the area being a fan of a bigger in-state school and the media sharing a little bias against our schools. I believe our fans a lot alike in many ways.

I hope we can play again in the future and do wish you all the best going forward.

Thanks MT Fan. It has been fun, especially basketball. Some of the best teams ODU has had in CUSA were during the years MT was dominant. We were good but Middle had some of best teams to play in this iteration of CUSA..

Really, really wish Marshall and ODU were still in CUSA to create local rivalries with Liberty. That said, good luck in the Sun Belt. Hopefully we can still play you in some out of conference games (some are scheduled)

Word on the street is thats exactly what ODU and Marshall wanted. But the CUSA teams wouldn't approve LU joining... until it was too late. ODU, Marshall, Liberty, WKU, MT would have been pretty nice. Maybe nice enough to have enticed App and CCU to join up. But, we will never know. As you mentioned, we have a lot of OOC matchups coming up anyway.

I am sure JMU would have joined as well. I don't think App and CCU would have left. Wouldn't they have to pay to leave and would that be worth it? The line up below would have been pretty nice for C-USA.

In other words, the schools Liberty is in conference with now are NOT their friends. That's a shame. We know what that's like after being in the MAC.

All water under the bridge for all parties. It would have been nice.
