In football.

On average.

As it stands today, it'll be pretty unbalanced for a while. That west division would be worse in SP+ than the new CUSA I believe (but of course, the east will be pretty good on average, even with ODU joining).

It’s worth noting that LaTech has never beaten ODU in football. And LTs record in bball isn’t much better, ODU leads that 7-3. And ODU just won the cusa baseball tournament LT hosted by beating LT.

It doesn't seem relevant here. Bragging rights are bragging rights, can't argue with that.

But on the whole you can't argue that with this sample size ODU has been better at football than Tech. And even if you wanted to make that argument (which would be stupid) it doesn't have anything to do with ODU's contribution (or place in the pecking order) in their new dream conference. Or with the SB East strength compared to the SB West (or the SB West compared to the new CUSA).

But note away, y'all earned it. We forever bear the shame of those two losses, but that's on us.

Seems to be since you specifically made a point about how ODU is gonna weaken the division.

You know the old saying.

If the shoe fits, kick ODU with it.

If it helps, I think you'll still be ok in the SB east. You'll get to play Georgia State and 2 teams from the west every year. That'll help.

03-lmfao03-lmfao I am not gonna lie, i will miss playing LT. Where else are we gonna find easy wins to pad our stats. 04-cheers but for real we are gonna miss playing the orange ball with Y'all, UAB, UTEP, WKU and EmptySue.

I think what's going to be really ironic is if after sharing a conference for almost 10 years and never sending your football team to Ruston, y'all draw ULM as your first cross-divisional road game and end up 30 miles away in SB year one.

I can confirm there will be no irony in year 1 in the Sun Belt.

ODU AD Wood Selig joined the Tim Donnelly show again and gave an update on the case against CUSA:

"They said, well we want to arbitrate your departure and arbitrate whether you can leave early."

Huh. Weird of CUSA to have proposed that, I wonder how they got the idea?

He presents it like it was this unreasonable concept, especially the location (which is especially ironic).

"It sure would be nice if these children to play better in the sandbox together."

Right. As in, "we just want them to give us what we want." And "we'd be better off debating that without a neutral party that might consider us in the wrong and cost us more money or what we want."

I do appreciate the honestly of "we want the best chance to get what we want and that's the main reason for wanting this in a Virginia court rather than a neutral arbitrator." That's sort of my issue with so much of the hand-wringing and name calling around these message boards. Both sides have an interest and those interests don't line up so both sides are fighting for their best interests. There is zero high ground in all the "but they won't even return our calls" whining. There is probably a better case for the "just fulfill the contract you signed up for or at least go through the arbitration process you agreed to in order to dispute the contract you agreed to" but eventually (unfortunately) even that high ground is going to run into the practical realities of the situation. Might as well just say "we're doing what we think gives us the best chance to get what we want."

But he's making the stupid divorce analogy. Universities and conferences aren't people Dr. Selig!

Kudos for slipping ODU into the murderer's row lineup about how tough the SB East will be. Not sure that's the fear, but yeah, technically y'all are in the division.
