Alcorn is the 1-seed in the SWAC, not TSU.

RE: NIT Insurance Watch
so only Alcorn St today. We're sitting on 9 which is lower than normal-looking 1st time since 2010 had fewer than 10. 13 year average is 10.5 per year. However last 9 it's been 12.

Davidson is still out there potentially. Princeton too.

As an aside, when did Long Beach State start going by the Beach? Seems lame and 49ers, while common, was much better.

Davidson if they lose will almost surely make the NCAA tourney. Princeton sure is possible.

Officially, about 3 years ago. But I remember people calling the school "The Beach" much longer ago than that.

Could ANY of those 1-seed afford a loss?

They dropped Prospector Pete, their 49er mascot, for "pc" reasons. The only sports program whose name did not change was baseball. They remain the Dirtbags.

Yeah, exactly what I was asking. Thanks for confirmation of my suspicions

RE: NIT Insurance Watch
Long Beach State was known as "the Beach" back when I was in college in the 1980s. It's an old nickname. They are constantly tinkering with their marketing name. I guess there really isn't one everyone agrees on, so it changes every few years which moniker they use (the Beach, Long Beach State, California State Long Beach). "The U" worked for Miami, so why not "the Beach" for Long Beach?

Note, it's true what the announcers said, that Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton are best known as Baseball schools.

RE: NIT Insurance Watch
As an aside, Stu, 8 of the 11 of the Big West rosters this year had a majority of their players come from outside California. Fullerton only had five in-state players. Cal State Bakersfield only had four Californians. They looked like a Big South member.
