#1 seed NU advances to the HE semifinals with a 3-2 win over #8 BC at Matthews Arena.
After a scoreless 1st period, NU jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by Gunnarwolf Fontaine, Justin Hryckowian and Sam Colangelo.
NU getting back freshman forward Hryckowian was HUGE. It was his first game back since the Beanpot and he's our best face-off player.
But in the 3rd with about 11 minutes left BC got a PP goal to cut it to 3-1 and later 3-2 to put NU on their heels a bit. Devon Levi made 46 saves to help preserve the win.
NU will face # 4 UConn in the semis at TD Garden Friday, March 18 at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NESN.
Huskies vs Huskies in one semifinal and UMass-Amherst vs. UMass-Lowell in the other.
