Be sure to check out the ESPN story "The Chosen One's" The story of Roger Bacon HS, the only school to beat Lebron. It features former Seahawk Beckham Wyrick, who was the best defensive player I have seen in a Seahawk uniform.
If I remember correctly, Beckham gave LeBron a sharp elbow to the chest to start the game on the jump ball, just to let him know what he was in for. I loved those football mentality players we recruited back then.

Better than JG? Crazy those two were on the same squad

Goldsberry was as tough as nails...deceptively, because he had sort of an angelic look about him. Wyrick was really something great, too.
That 2003 team that lost to Maryland in the NCAA's was arguably the best UNCW team ever. They had Maryland beaten , and could have taken down a LOT of teams that year.
Nice piece. I wonder how many of Beckham's teammates played in college & where.
Beckham would definitely figure prominently in my all time Seahawk defensive team. No doubt, Jerry Wainwright & his staff could find and recruit talent.

Beckham and Goldsberry were both on my "all 2000-present" Seahawk team when we did that 5-team draft. I lost poorly in the fan polls but I know in my heart my team would have won. I mean, how are you going to score on this team with John and Beckham locking down your top 2 scorers, PLUS Big Ced protecting the rim?

And? We drafted 40 players. Everyone had a hole somewhere. Team Brownell had Jaylen Fornes starting at SF.
With Big Ced at PF, Dodd would just have to grab an occasional rebound on that team. His starting spot would be nominal in nature, as he'd cede a bunch of minutes to Stewart Hare, with Cedrick sliding to Center whenever Dodd came out.
Meanwhile, Dodd was 6-7, 260, and athletic. It's not entirely his fault he couldn't excel under CB McGrath. And even then he showed some flashes.
I bet he gets plenty of minutes and shines at his new destination, Charleston Southern, next season.

My team would destroy 08's! Not gonna find a more well rounded scoring team from 1-5, then you have two athletic Freaks of AT and Lacy off the bench with a stopper and rebounder in Laue

No one. Since we used the 2000-2020 period, Green being a bit of a "tweener" (more than half his career taking place outside of the 2000s window) hurt his chances of being taken. 2000-01 was the first season in the window we established, and that was, of course, Green's senior year.
We should probably do another draft down the road, one that includes the 80s and 90s teams as well.

Who did the drafting, and how? Was this a live-streamed event?
