UNT's McCasland Turns Down SMU
"I feel really good about what coach McCasland has done here, how much value he puts on being here and where we are as a program. We are going to take care of him and invest in the program." - UNT AD Wren Baker

Big comment from the UNT AD. Mac will get more money and basketball specific resources. Very excited about this news.

it didn't make sense, leaving a program to go to a program that in one more season would be in the same conference.

SMU seems to be working on making their program more attractive to the Big12. Hiring away our successful basketball coach would certainly help them maintain their standing ahead of us. It just backfired on them. Failing to lure McCasland away from UNT can't be helping them in their quest for Big12 membership.

SMU tried to make a power move on UNT and it exploded in their face. Too bad for SMU, and great for UNT.

As far as the BigXII goes, I don’t think it really matters, tbh. Unless they expand again in the next 2-3 years — which I don’t think is going to happen, anyway — no one except SMU/UNT will remember this the next time around.

Apparently a couple of high majors also reached out to McCasland. UNT must be ready to open up the check book in a big way.

Hey.. Littrell is rebuilding.

He's been rebuilding since Graham and Mason left, and now we have a career OL coach coaching QB's.

The future is bright indeed03-banghead

Perhaps more so. I'm hearing McCasland's new contract will be a multi-million dollar deal with significant increases in basketball specific resources, like assistant coaches salaries. Mac wins championships. That guy has earned it.

Seth is on borrowed time. But, I'm not going into particulars about that right now.

I will go there... Seth was almost canned last year but UNT made a mistake about timing and timeline and missed their window and opportunity for the target they wanted...

I would be amazed if he makes it through next year unless they win the title
