Sources: Louisiana Tech is expected to hire Texas Tech assistant coach Talvin Hester as the school's next basketball coach. He spent three seasons as Eric Konkol's assistant there from 2018-21.

Very well liked and regarded by those in and around the program. Very well regarded across Texas, especially Dallas and Houston (he found and recruited all the TX guys on this years team). Excited to see his X's and O's, but one thing is for sure, talent will not be a problem with a TH team.

Seems to be a great recruiter and very well respected. I don't know how much it played into his hiring, but he helped recruit Lofton so it's more likely now for Lofton to stay. Is it much more likely? Who knows but I'm sure it made Lofton think more. I am just hoping that the guy can be the one to break our curse.

Homerun hire. 20+ years of coaching, was assistant at LA Tech for 3 years, turns programs around in year 1 not year 4 or 5, excellent recruiter, very strong ties with HS/Juco/AAU coaches in Texas. Our fairly newish AD is crushing it on the HC hires!

Maybe they should take a year to rebuild first. You know, wait until 2023-2024 season to go dancing. Jokes aside, wishing the best for LaTech. Maybe we see a 2 or 3 bid CUSA next season to send this version out with a bang
