NU dropped 2 of 3 vs. W&M, picking up a win on Sunday to avoid another sweep.
Soph. Wyatt Scotti picked up his 6th win (6-1) pitching 8 innings allowing 4 hits 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. Thomas Balboni picked up his 5th save in the 9th.
NU has been struggling at the plate the last few weeks and Saturday was one of the most frustrating games of the season as NU lost 4-3 leaving 10 runners on base and made some base running gaffes. W&M got a homer in the 9th off Eric Yost to break a 3-3 tie. The Huskies put the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the 9th, but a pair deep fly-outs, including one right at the left field wall, were unable to send them home.
Sebastian Keane went 6.1 innings, allowing just 3 ER, 6 H – he also walked 6 and struck out 6 in the no-decision.
Friday, NU lost 6-2. The game was tied at 1-1 in the 3rd when Cam Schlittler gave up a 3-run homer. W&M added 2 runs in the 4th to go up 6-1. Schlittler (2-5) went just 4 innings allowing 8 H, 6 ER, 2 BB and 2 K.
NU makes the short trip to Brighton to visit BC Tuesday in the Baseball Beanpot. The game is on ACCN Extra (espn.com) at 4pm.
