Is there any pulse at FIU? Feels like the program is on the edge of extinction unless something massive happens like UAB. I'd hate to see such a large with institution with massive potential call it quits.

They hired our deputy AD to replace Pete Garcia, who frankly had been there too long. I'm hoping he can help FIU turn things around, but there's a lot of work to be done. Once upon a time they were actually invited to CUSA before FAU. Now they're getting left behind.

FIU is 2 seasons removed from back to back to back bowl seasons along with a couple 8 and 9 win seasons. Their problem seems to be in hiring old wore out head coaches without the drive needed.

Butch Davis looked to be a homerun hire but the wheel fell out when he seemed to go on a power trip. Ron Tunner was a awful hire and that came on the back of firing Mario Cristobal. Seems to me FIU repeated that pattern with the hiring of Mike MacIntyre....

older former head coach who has no experience in what it take at a G5 school in this modern area and might be looking ahead to retirement. The bright side is his offenses usually put up close to 30ppg and that is going to be a key stat in todays G5

I think FIU will be fine. The school finally has an AD that seems to care and soon will have a new president. FAU started having more success when they got a president that cared about athletics. Hopefully the next president for FIU will understand the importance of athletics to a university.

What happened with Butch Davis? It seemed like he got off to a really strong start but just kind of fizzled after that.

This could be just the words of a coach on his way out the door, or FIU has some serious issues. I mean shoulder pads, uniforms, and recruiting are the life blood of a program. Not having a budget for the simple things makes winning almost impossible.

He is just bitter; that's all and he will try to insult us with the "juco" thing.
I personally think FIU has a big culture problem with football and students, alumni nor faculty care that much about the program. I am hispanic and as soon I step into that school, I notice it immediately. I don't know how to explain it.
In terms of football FAU feels different and yes, I know we don't have a massive attendance record but it is way better with a smaller student body.

Anyways, I hope things get better at FIU.
