Ironic..:the Conferencs getting killed right now
The BigEast killed the once really good (not great) CUSA. Then the ACC killed the BigEast. Now the ACC is likely to get killed by the B1G and SEC if their best teams can get out of the grant of rights. Boy does Maryland and Rutgers look smart now.
The Pac12 began the slow death of the Big12 by taking Colorado and then taking Utah from the MWC. That old MWC was pretty strong and better than the Pac12 and Big12. The Big12, for all of their crying about what ESPN was trying to do to them last summer… They have never had any issues with taking schools from the Mountain west and the American.
It’s also very ironic, that for the better part of 30 years the Pac 12, big 12 and ACC have stuck their noses up and made fun of the likes of conference USA 1.0 and the American… However, those have always been the two conferences that everyone has turned to when they need to backfill. So it seems like the old conference USA 1.0 and the current American conference must’ve been doing some things right.
Short story long, I don’t feel sorry for any of these conferences, they are all getting what they have deserved & what has been coming to them for a long time.
All of you self-perclaimed power conference fans, presidents, and athletic directors and commissioners… Have fun watching the SEC & B1G chop your legs off all the way to your nuts… Because y’all have been doing this to the old metro conference, CUSA & The American for decades.
