Now, they just need Lady A to sign on and promote Dave's father product who invented the teeth whiterner strips. Dave is from the state of Georgia.

Now SEC can land Sugarland to do halftime concerts with Sugarland and Kristian Bush as headliners. Kristian Bush of Sugarland is a cousin to the guy who is doing the Bush Beans commercials with the dog.

BTW, I'm more interested in which beans you put in chili. Not that I don't like baked beans, but give me the spicy meaty deliciousness of chili any day. I use a combo of pinto beans, black beans, and red kidney beans for taco soup. Take out the black beans when making cili.

Sorry, but beans don't belong in chili. (And before you say anything, please know that I'm a native Texan, where chili is the state dish.)

All jokes aside would you consider chili the state dish of Texas? I thought it would be like brisket or something.

Texas H.C.R. No. 18
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, One cannot be a true son or daughter of this state without having his taste buds tingle at the thought of the treat that is real, honest-to-goodness, unadulterated Texas chili; and

WHEREAS, Texans continue today the tradition begun in San Antonio 140 years ago of making the best and only authentic concoction of this piquant delicacy; and

WHEREAS, President Lyndon B. Johnson commented that "chili concocted outside of Texas is a weak, apologetic imitation of the real thing," and Will Rogers described Texas chili as "the bowl of blessedness"; and

WHEREAS, Texas has been the site of the annual International Chili Cook-Off since 1967 and is the home of the 1976 World Champion Chili Cooker, Albert Agnor, of Marshall; and

WHEREAS, It is customary for the legislature to designate certain state emblems in recognition of this state's great heritage and rich resources; and

WHEREAS, The beauty of Texas trees and flowers is represented by the pecan and bluebonnet and the mockingbird is emblematic of our abundant and varied wildlife, but the internationally esteemed cuisine of this great state had received no official recognition and has no official symbol; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State of Texas, the Senate concurring, That the 65th Legislature in recognition of the fact that the only real "bowl of red" is that prepared by Texans, hereby proclaims chili as the "State Dish of Texas."

god the only thing more obnoxious than californians blithely chippering away about their new cruelty free trans friendly tofu sandwich is texans talking about texas.

Rumor is Sankey will close Media Days with a splash, perching himself over a dunk tank full o' beans and allowing reporters to hurl cans of Bush's Best at the release mechanism.

All of that blather goes away when Texas secedes. Then, it'll garner the same amount of attention up here in the US as Honduras, or Costa Rica, or wherever.

My family recipe includes beans, and dates from when Texas was still New Spain.

Also anyone with tastebuds knows that bbq should be pork and not beef.

BBQ pork is great food, and perfectly acceptable for non-Texans who do not have the smoker skills to handle beef.

Meat
Beans
Sauce
Cheese on top
Corn chips mixed in

That's a meal.

Gezz, ATU; you cook like Naomi Oates Harper on Mama's Family. Recall the episode of the chili eating contest? Though it was rarely mentioned on the show, the Raytown setting was Missouri.

That was the first time I ever heard of putting Fritos in chili.

Where's the fresh onion and chopped green peppers? One can buy sauce with that.

I'll refrain from the acid reflex.

I forgot the onions, but yes on that. Green peppers are ok in chili, but they get drowned out.

Make sure to put hot sauce in there to taste once you've poured your bowl.
