Very possibly. The MW is a good conference, so hopefully they stick together (at least mostly). Maybe under "PAC," though. Although I prefer they regain the WAC name.

If there is anything the New Big East has taught me, it is that a name means nothing when the composition isn't up to expectation. May as well stick to MWC and leave the Pac in the history books.

The PAC shell has autonomous status

If western consolidation occurs between the MWC and PAC it will be done under the PAC shell

Definitely.

I just have warm and fuzzy memories of the old WAC = breeding grounds for great western programs.

"Autonomous status" is just a line in the rulebook. Cross out the line.

Autonomous status doesn't necessarily mean all that much. Three of the A5 conferences can propose a rule change - and it has to be something that is benefit to student athletes (though this might be quite broad, such as providing more coaches). This is then reviewed by all conferences, though they can't block. And any conference is free to adopt the rule.

So if the A5 decides football teams can have up to 37 coaches, CUSA could adopt the rule or set some limit short of 37.
