RE: Biletnikoff Awards
Has anyone in the AAC ever won one of these awards in the CFP era?
Sure its an honor to be on the watchlist or a semifinalist... but honestly I don't think its possible to win one of these in the AAC.

Actually yes, some players in the AAC have won "these" awards. Last year, Coby Bryant at UC won the Jim Thorpe award for being the best DB in the country. I may be wrong, but I also belive the Tulsa linebacker, Zaven Collins, won several of the big national awards in 2020.

I wonder how many on this board watched Biletnikoff play back in the 70's. I do. He was no Lance Alworth, but that dude could catch.

My favorite all time receiver. I was a Raiders fan when I was a kid. I can't remember ever seeing him drop a pass.

RE: Biletnikoff Awards
Do these watch lists mean anything? The best players at the position rarely win and it's largely a P5 award. If anything, the Transfer Portal has taught us that while team performance is relative, individual talent is often transcendent and the separation between individual, extremely talented, players in the G5 and P5 is not very large. Yet, the P5 player almost always wins. As another example, Will Anderson was the best player in college football last year, yet he was hardly considered for the Heisman.
Bailey Zappe threw for 62 touchdowns his first year in FBS football and didn't even get a kudos from the Heisman. Grayson McCall destroyed the FBS Record for Passer Efficiency Rating.
It's all garbage.

It's mostly a P5 thing because that is where the vast majority of talent resides. Look no further than the NFL draft.
