Theres a few considerations there. We dont know 100% that any incoming school would have to pay the full exit fee, if they leave before officially joining.

TCU backed out of joining the Big East and only paid a $5 million fee. There were a few attorneys on twitter who mentioned that there are some favorable texas laws and that there very well may be language that allows cancellation before they actually join.

From everything that has been said and from what I am hearing, I believe SDSU is in and I think SMU is gonna get the call. They may not be able to replace the LA market, but having two in the same city compared to picking up the San Diego and Dallas market sounds like its worth it.

I think SDSU is a given and they be stupid not to add them. SMU would be the next easy target but not sure if SMU fits the PAC schools profile. In the Big12 both Houston and Kansas would be closer fits. But would either want to pay to leave for PAC?
The PAC similar to BigTen is not only an athletic conference it’s also an academic grouping, both SDSU and UH would benefit from that association.

Wasn't that 2-3 times the Big East TV payout at the time? And the additional payout from the Big 12 more than offset that. Pac 12 payout would unlikely offset any exit fee, much less a proportionate exit fee to TCU's move

We are all aligning ourselves for the next realignment in 10 years with the ACC GOR ending. Houston can join the Big 12 and become a powerhouse and be prepared for another jump for potential B1G invite
