For the Anniversary game... Let's make it a true tribute and have our players wear the numbers of those lost and the ones that kept the program alive with their names on the back of the jerseys. For instance, Colombi would wear #14 and have "Shoebridge" on the back of his jersey. What do you all think? Am I just being dumb or does this have legs?

Then Marshall could put all of that up for bid during the golf tournament for Marcelo Lajterman.

I think at a certain point a memorial can feel like a marketing gimmick. Not a fan of that idea. No offense.

It's still very painful for a lot of people out there. I also don't want to make it uncomfortable for everyone (especially the players). This was a horrible tragedy and I don't like all the black uniforms and such. I don't remember us doing all of that back in the 80's. All we need is a simple 75 on the jersey somewhere. But that's just my opinion.

You gotta think the families at this point want them remembered but to leave it alone. We've been using it for our benefit and motivation so much that it should be called "the Crutch" instead of "the Crash." I'd like to have a few seasons where Marshall can be known for more than that history. I'd like us to move on. And I say that with the utmost respect to the families and the deceased.

I know GB and I were very young when it happened and are in our early to mid 50s. It won't be too many more years before no one is around that knew anyone involved. I think a quiet fountain ceremony and maybe a moment of silence at the home game nearest the date is about as much as we should do. Any more starts to seem like exploitation rather than celebration and remembrance.

It's time for Marshall to make a name for itself on something positive again and to stop dragging these players into that other situation and forcing them to honor something that happened decades before they were born. They shouldn't ever feel like they've let a whole community down because they couldn't win a damn football game.

I am very connected to many of the families around here that are from Huntington and have a decent finger on the pulse. But it's fine. The idea isn't popular. I'll be okay.. lol
