RE: CAA Awards 2022-2023
My guess is that the voters will not agree with me when voting for the all CAA first team since there are flashier QB's, but Darius Wilson should be first team all CAA. He is the Chairman of the Board of our offense and controlled things beautifully all year.

CAA Awards 2022-2023
Is there any chance John doesn't win CAA DPOY?

I'd assume he is the clubhouse leader for the Buck Buchanan award as well. Question... Do the national awards include post season, or is it wrapped up during the regular season?

My guess is they give 1st team QB to Udinski. He had gaudy stats on a top team and is a grad student. They tend to favor upperclassmen when there are debates for all conference performers.

Congratulations to Jalen Jones for being one of 25 finalists for the Jerry Rice award (Rookie of the Year in FCS).

Congratulations to Mike London Sr. for being one of 16 finalists for the Eddie Robinson FCS Coach of the Year! London was a nominee while Coach for Howard. He was not a nominee for COY in 2008 when UR won it all.

I <<think>> that the national awards are based on regular season only. Otherwise, NDSU guys would pile up tons of extra stats because of all the extra playoff games they play and the NDSU coach would win COY every year.

I don't think Pius would win the Buck Buchanan award. Besides Pius, there are several really good defensive players just in the CAA (I don't remember their names but I think UNH has one and UR has one, just off the top of my head). When you add in the rest of the country, I'm sure that there are lots of great ones....and those guys have been seen on ESPN channels. That is not to say that Pius is undeserving...just to say that in my opinion he is definitely not the "clubhouse leader".

Well, I'm absolutely biased, but John's body of work should have him as the leader in the clubhouse in the CAA. 3rd nationally in sacks and 5th in tackles for loss. Obviously, 1st in those stats in the CAA. I might be exaggerating a bit much on the Buchanan, but he's certainly in the discussion.

Oh yes, I think that Pius wins it in the CAA. My point was that there are other good defenders just in the CAA, so nationwide there are even more. Pius is not first nationwide in any of those top stats. Interesting that Pius wasn’t mentioned in an announcement along with London and Jones. Maybe it was because Pius was already on the Buchanan list and the other two weren’t on their respective list?

RE: CAA Awards 2022-2023
Wilson has the highest passer rating of any QB in the conference, highest yards per attempts, and the 2nd highest completion percentage, not to mention his running ability. Our offense doesn't require him to throw it ~50 times a game, so he lacks some of the volume stats the other guys put up, but I wouldn't trade Wilson for any of the QBs that made the all CAA teams.

Agreed. Santos was good this year but can't see how Mike London is not Coach of the Year.
