Liberty, Marshall, App. State, Coastal Carolina, Western Kentucky, all would have been better adds, IMO. Even ODU or JMU.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Do you know anything at all about Rice?

Guys a Liberty fan. Makes sense that they wouldn't know anything about the history of this sport lol

Bad day for the G5 and the AAC’s soon to be leftovers
Y’all already caught most of the issues with the Liberty poster talking about Rice. But I’ll add this:
2006: 7-6, won 6 in a row (5 of them vs. current AAC teams)
2008: 10-3, Texas Bowl champs
2012: 7-6, Armed Forces Bowl champs
2013: 10-4, CUSA Champions
2014: 8-5, Hawaii Bowl champs

Still, it’s been a minute since ‘14

RE: Bad day for the G5 and the AAC’s soon to be leftovers
I think there is a lot of schools that would have gone into Davis Wade Stadium for the home opener for Mississippi State and lose the way we did, especially after we beat them last year at home.

I along with a ton of other AAC fans have been rooting for everyone in this conference for almost a decade now and truly have grown to admire and love our members.

With that being said just think about this before trolling and coming with that "aac leftovers" type of energy.

For the schools who weren't "left over" i'm excited to see their performances when faced with a full P5 schedule.

It's so weird to me that Houston, ucf and cincy fans are here posting about this stuff. Like does it make you guys feel better to put down this group of misfits? Why would any of you care about this conference beyond the lame duck season you're having now?

Like if usf were (never going to happen) on our way to the acc or something I would never be seen here again. Might be easier for me to say given I'm basically never here in the first place though I guess. Usfs ineptitude and the college football landscape in general has me doing nothing more than checking scores when I remember to. Saturdays are for the epl.

None of the UH posters in thus thread were talking bad about the league. In fact three of us jumped a Liberty poster for not getting Rices win loss totals right.

RE: Bad day for the G5 and the AAC’s soon to be leftovers
It is what it is. This year will be a weird one with some fans from schools that are leaving so they are focusing more on that other league and how it is doing, then we have the other fans of schools that will arrive next year that are looking at how they will fit in and do in next years AAC.

The reality is that this years AAC and next years AAC will be two different leagues and the league will start to be judged by how it performs next year.

Yeah I don’t think the league is gonna do too well without the 3 B12 bound schools.

Charlotte- Atrocious
North Texas- Atrocious
Rice- Atrocious
Navy- Atrocious
Temple- Atrocious
usf- Atrocious
Tulsa- bad
Memphis- bad
FAU- bad
Tulane- decent
UAB- decent
ECU- good
SMU- good
UTSA- good

I can't believe you all are having this conversation after one week.

AAC will do well into the future. It will take a few years to pass the SBC for "P6" status but will return as the dominant conference.

This most likely will be the future AAC:
Charlotte- Very good. With new facilities and admin support, they will raise the money to hire strong coaches.
North Texas- Very good. Same as Charlotte but with DFW metroplex as a recruiting backyard.
USF- Very good. See Charlotte and UNT. New IPF and football stadium. Combined with Fla recruiting and the Bulls will rise to the top.
SMU - Very good, perhaps top of the AAC. More facilities online, young staff, and DFW metroplex for recruiting.
UTSA- Very good. But financial issues may prevent the Runners from maintaining staff and financial issues prevented a "covered" practice field when schools are building IPF at a record pace. UTSA and SMU could dominate AAC .
ECU- Very good. These guys have the coach and facilities with a great fan base. Should dominate AAC east with Charlotte and USF challenging.

UAB - Good. Could be better with the right coaching hires.
Tulsa- Good. Coaching change may be in order at end of the season as the program is stagnating.
FAU - good. But questions about admin support raise questions if they can move up in performance.
Memphis - good. Can the Tigers take it to the next level?

Tulane - toss-up. Recruiting has been an issue. If they can improve in this area they should make a bowl game every year and occasionally challenge for the conference title.
Rice - toss-up. Questions about admin support. Purchased dome in place of a true IPF. Currently performing a nickel and dime cosmetic changes to Rice Stadium when major renovations, or new stadium, are needed.

Navy- bad. The new hire will determine their future.
Temple- bad. Just don't see improvement in this program. Do they even deliver the Philly TV market?

Fun Fact:
Rice is 3-0 all-time against Alabama. Their last meeting was 1956, but it's still an interesting bit of trivia. Scores were 28-6, 20-0, and 20-13.

I really don't understand how you came to this ranking, especially when it comes to Memphis and UAB.

Memphis - Has been right up there with the 3 teams leaving - their "level" since the AAC was formed has been higher than every other team on this list. Given that, I don't understand what "level" they need to get to be "very good" instead of "good" The only reason I would rank them lower as being the future of the conference is that they are the mostly likely to leave for the P5.

UAB - Probably the very first choice for the AAC when picking the incoming schools. New stadium and has had success over the past few years (made the C-USA conference championship game in 2018, 2019, and 2020, - won the conference in 2018 and 2020 and hasn't had a losing record since the program came back in 2017)

I would rank these "good" teams higher than easily 4-5 of your 6 "very good" team and maybe all of them (although I'm pretty high on ECU getting back to where they were).

Yup.

The G4-hosted game that was head-to-head against the Pirates was 520k viewers.
Arizona at SanDiego State got on CBS!!! OTA!! in the 3:30 slot!!! and didn't get to a million.

Why did that game get CBS? Arizona, while they look impressive now, has been very bad recently. They were rather large dogs to SDSU.
