Games of interest IMO:

AAC:

Navy @ SMU
--Is Navy back and/or has SMU tanked?

Memphis @ ECU
--The mental game after this weekend.... who can win it and then win the actual game.

Futures:

La Tech @ UNT
--Is UNT for real this year?

Rice @ FAU
--Rice can really push forward on the season with a W.

Temple @ UCF ESPN
MY LINE: UCF 35-18 Temple has been looking better but beating UCF is a different beast.

Friday 10/14

Navy @ SMU ESPN
MY LINE: Navy 27-23 This game spooks me. SMU has lost 3 straight and got stomped by UCF last week. Navy has been up and down, and while mostly down they did have an offensive explosion against Tulsa last week. Going Navy in a tight win. If SMU can get back to SMU, maybe they can win it.

Saturday 10/15

Tulane @ USF ESPNU
MY LINE: Tulane 31-20 USF feels so close to breaking through for a win against a FBS opponent, but Tulane is playing very well right now. I'm giving Tulane the win by double digits, but I don't think it will be an easy game.

Memphis @ ECU ESPNU
MY LINE: ECU 34-31 As I stated in my games of interest post, the mental game here is where this game will be won or lost--ECU off a lackluster showing at Tulane on offense and special teams and Memphis with a 4th quarter meltdown of epic proportions. Who can rebound the best? I'm giving ECU the edge at home.

Futures:

[b]Friday 10/14

UTSA @ FIU CBSSN
MY LINE: UTSA 45-17 UTSA is too good to make this a close game with FIU.

Saturday 10/15

Charlotte @ UAB ?
MY LINE: UAB 35-23 Charlotte is really struggling this year and UAB got it back together last weekend, so I am giving the Blazers the W.

La Tech @ UNT ESPN+
MY LINE: UNT 27-26 UNT wins a close one here. I honestly can't convince myself if either team can dominate the other.

Rice @ FAU ESPN+
MY LINE: Rice 31-23 Rice has been trending up and FAU down, but Rice is also Rice, so I don't trust them to really lay the hammer down on a struggling FAU squad.

Maybe?

Houston @ Memphis was as close to a game that made people who didn't have a rooting interest sit up and watch as the AAC has had all year. This week's slate will have me washing the boat Saturday afternoon.

I mean, yeah, after last week's results, it doesn't add to the "gotta see" vibes to this weeks games. My own games of interest aren't really interesting in terms of top tier teams going at it...more so for interesting drama points.

I don't bet football, or anything else, but follow lines a bit because they have a demonstrated predictive ability. It is interesting that the Navy-SMU line opened at SMU +11 or so and has gone up to +13 or so (last I looked). That would indicate a lot of people think Navy’s production against Tulsa was a Fluke and we will regress to the mean against SMU (or that SMU is better than their record).

Certainly that is possible. I am expecting a good game out of both teams. Somewhat like Tulsa, SMU has a good offense but a middle of the pack defense - although I think probably better on both sides than Tulsa. And they have tape on what we did to Tulsa. It will be interesting. I am not predicting a winner, but I think it will be a close game in the end.

I don't mean this to sound snarky. Tulsa had its super bowl the week before at home and I think they walked into a buzzsaw having to play your offense the week after getting up for UC's. They hate UC and they get hopped up for it and when it doesn't pan out that program needs a quiet place for a bit.

Instead, Navy gave them some Senior Chief Bosuns Mate level bulkhead therapy in the boiler room.

REALITY SAID: UCF 70-13 Like, this game was close at one point, and then UCF had enough of that I guess.
1-0

Friday 10/14

REALITY SAID: SMU 40-34 I don't think this result answered any of my issues with these teams LOL. Navy really needs to string some wins together if they plan on making a bowl
1-1

Saturday 10/15

Tulane @ USF ESPNU
MY LINE: Tulane 31-20 USF feels so close to breaking through for a win against a FBS opponent, but Tulane is playing very well right now. I'm giving Tulane the win by double digits, but I don't think it will be an easy game.
REALITY SAID: Tulane 45-31 USF is slowly getting better as the year progresses. Shoutout to Tulane though.
2-1

Memphis @ ECU ESPNU
MY LINE: ECU 34-31 As I stated in my games of interest post, the mental game here is where this game will be won or lost--ECU off a lackluster showing at Tulane on offense and special teams and Memphis with a 4th quarter meltdown of epic proportions. REALITY SAID: ECU 47-45 4OT This game... The ups and downs to this game were mind boggling but luckily ECU didn't "ECU it" on homecoming and the debut of the Modern Throwback jersey.
3-1

Futures:

[b]Friday 10/14

UTSA @ FIU CBSSN
MY LINE: UTSA 45-17 UTSA is too good to make this a close game with FIU.
REALITY SAID: UTSA 30-10 Not surprised.
1-0

Saturday 10/15

Charlotte @ UAB ?
MY LINE: UAB 35-23 Charlotte is really struggling this year and UAB got it back together last weekend, so I am giving the Blazers the W.
REALITY SAID: UAB 34-20 Yeah, pretty much, and I was darn close on the score.
2-0

La Tech @ UNT ESPN+
MY LINE: UNT 27-26 UNT wins a close one here. I honestly can't convince myself if either team can dominate the other.
REALITY SAID: UNT 47-27 I really didn't expect UNT to drop 47 but congrats.
3-0

Rice @ FAU ESPN+
MY LINE: Rice 31-23 Rice has been trending up and FAU down, but Rice is also Rice, so I don't trust them to really lay the hammer down on a struggling FAU squad.
REALITY SAID: FAU 17-14 Gah, I knew better than to pick Rice. I can't believe the scoring was half what I had thought.
3-1

Maybe?

Dual 3-1s eh.... oh well.
