This week's preview has been the most difficult I have had to write.
Have to go back to the 2008 NCAA finals to find such an emotional loss.
The question is has the team been able to shake off the effects.
The kick return drained the team emotionally,
Now the Tigers have to go on the road and face the AAC career-passing leader.
Play 5 yards off, and Ahlers will 4 and 5 yard it down the field.
Winstead is the main WR who Ahlers goes to in key spots and to move the chains.
If you sneak too many down to eliminate the short pass Johnson will make you pay, averaging over 18 yards per catch.
Even more frightening is the fact that ECU is not one-dimensional.
Mitchell is 3rd in the nation in yards per carry at 7.73 ypc.
If there was ever a game where the Tigers cannot get off to a slow start, this is it.
On a positive note, the Tigers have the top punter and FG kicker in the nation.
Need to focus on getting more depth on kick-offs and coverage on kickoffs.
ECU's punter is barely averaging 37 yards per punt, but he has plenty of hang time.
Also had one blocked.
Ahlers has 16 TD passes so far, but ECU has thrown 5 picks.
The Tigers need to win the turnover battle, and a defensive score or two would be big.
Come out ready to play, keep the game close, and with a break or two the Tigers could come away with a big win.
Come out flat not ready to play it could be a long ride home.
The Tigers need at least a split on the road in the next two games.
Short of a complete break down the bowl eligibility streak should continue.
But 8 and possibly 9 wins are still reachable.
