This is also a virtual elimination game from the top level of the championship game race. Both teams sit in a group of four in the middle of the standings with one loss. (Three remain unbeaten, the other four teams already have two losses).

Navy especially has played well recently, and may have a legit championship run in them, and already 2-1 in league play.
SMU certainly can’t be counted out with just one loss, either, and the oddsmakers agree. FPI gives SMU an 86% chance to win.

By another reckoning, you were 3 hours 45 minutes early. Home team has the initial obligation. Visitors are cleared hot at midnight of game day -- so, yeah, I was way behind.
