Finally, some good common sense. We have enjoyed making the trip to UCF
(beautiful campus and friendly folks) and hope we can continue to play in near future. Good luck in Big 12......I for one will be pulling for you:)

I'm not saying I buy the stolen playbook theory, but if ECU knew the plays UCF was calling, wouldn't it be much easier to get turnovers? Seems like a weird way for ECU fans to challenge the cheating claim to me. Like if you knew who was getting the ball, it would be much easier to force a turnover.

That said, I just chalk the loss up to us playing a real road game and us playing much poorer on the road under Malzahn than at home. If cheating is proven though, I hope whoever is involved is punished. I've been a UCF fan for over 20 years and never heard an allegation like this from UCF.

It’s not like this is UCFs first loss. There aren’t rumors of this situation happening after every time we’ve lost because it’s sour grapes and we can’t take it. You can look at hundreds of Ls in school history where nothing like this came out.

I’m sorry but in this case where there is smoke there is fire.

Is ECU good enough to beat the brakes off UCF without knowing all the offensive signals? Of course they are.

But let’s not dismiss this as pouting.

Both things can be true at the same time. ECU cheated and UCF would have still lost. However these things will never be known.

So I’m sure UcF fans will agree that the refs handed UCF the game last season due to a flagrant face mask tackle on our last possession that should have given the Pirates a first down and a chance to ice the game. I’m guessing that ref got a pay raise this year.

A couple of random tweets ain't "smoke." This is pouting until there's a lot more than that, and in the insanely unlikely scenario of any actual proof coming out it's then time to call Gus a moron for not changing his signals.

Jesus, y'all really fired someone during a game?

Gus, who is usually pretty composed, lost his ish on this dude. I guess he had been mouthing off to Gus for a while. In this situation the GA called a play, Gus said he called the wrong play. GA confirmed that called the correct play (he did) and then talked **** to the HC.

No one is asking for the league to void the results. There is chatter and if anyone is going to be worse off from this it is the now unhireable UCF GA.

If your team gets blown out and a ref made a maliciously bad call in the process, you don’t put an asterisk next to the result, but you hopefully still hold the ref accountable.

UCF is still talking about losing to ECU 2 weeks later after a huge win yesterday against Cincy.

I think it is UCF who is a bit testy.

RE: ECU pirated UCFs signals?
UCF just beat Cincy. UCF is ranked in both polls.

Losing to ECU doesn’t matter.

My personal opinion is that we got caught sleeping. We have won a conference title in the past while losing to ECU in the regular season. It’s fine. We control our own destiny.

Just be happy to be ranked. Happy to control our AAC destiny. Happy to be heading to the Big12 soon.

It’s good to have the UCF rivalry back. Sorry we’ve been gone the past 6 years or so but we’re back now. Unfortunately, we won’t continue the series (at least for a while it appears).

Apparently he was getting disrespectful and lippy with Gus during the game.

Who knows maybe we get UCF hosting ECU in the AAC Championship Game this year.

One more game!

Would love to see it. Love the rivalry. This whole rumor thing isn't a good look at all and shouldn't be spread. That's what the conference and administrations are for.

I will say that I'm not sure how much game film is out there on Malzhan's offense, but he's been in the profession a while. Our kids a very big on film study especially Myles Berry who handles a lot of the defensive calls and Holton. I don't think anything mentioned thus far affected the number of points we put up. When UCF did score ECU answered immediately as all good teams do.

But hey we'd love to line it up and do it again for last bragging rights. Go Pirates!!!

Maybe UCF should submit a formal protest and see what happens.

Even if this is all true which seems doubtful given the inconsistencies and general illogical claims, nothing would come of it. Elrod simply got banned from Wake's campus, probably a similar thing for the GA and he'll never get another job in major football.
