Boise, I have been to San Diego, and I was not impressed.

I mean personal preference and such.

I've been to both, I personally preferred San Diego.

Boise is a hip place to visit these days, it's really far off the beaten path but I hear it's very nice. On the other hand, SoCal is probably the best location to live or visit in North America, and possibly the entire world. Oh, and they have a lot of really good high school football recruits there. So I, like most people, would prefer SoCal, and so would any school, AD, or conference.

If Boise gets in over SDSU, which I'll admit is not impossible, it won't be due to their great geography.

Boise State lives on California football recruiting. They have to go outside Idaho to find talent. The top ranked high school football player in Idaho in the 2023 class is going to Oregon. The second highest ranked player in the state is going to Utah. There is not much top talent in Idaho and the Pac-12 can what they want.

Adding Boise State would be doing a big favor for Boise State but does little for the Pac-12. They don't bring a men's soccer team or baseball team. Their academics are the worst in the MWC. The TV market is ranked at 101. Today's weather in San Diego is high of 71 degrees, low 47. Boise is high of 36, low of 18. San Diego is a beautiful city and there is nothing wrong with Boise, but they would not be a good fit with the Pac-12.

Boise State is a possibility if they add 4 schools, but they are not going beat out SDSU!

Boise.

If you visited San Diego you would have to go home after a week or two.

I have visited San Diego and I had no problem with it. Now I didn't stay a whole week. But as bryanw said, "Today's weather in San Diego is high of 71 degrees, low 47. Boise is high of 36, low of 18."

I think the joke was its hard to leave San Diego (to go home), leaving Boise is not a problem.

If the PAC is even around six years from now, this thread will still be getting bumped with claims that SDSU might get invited the next day.

That’s why you should never trust a tweet that doesn’t mention any maximum time on when a school will get invited. It essentially makes the claims of their impending invite unfalsifiable.

No one knowledgeable on realignment actually thinks SDSU will get invited to the P12 because of Dan Patrick.

People think SDSU will get invited to the P12 because the guy who literally broke the USC/UCLA news and has been the most reliable PAC-12 source for over a decade has given it 60% odds the league will invite SDSU.

Well, this thread is about Dan Patrick’s statement. It’s 17 pages long, and still being posted on. So, yes, I think that people are discussing SDSU to the PAC in no small part because of Dan Patrick’s statement.

In addition, Canzano’s source is the PAC commissioner, and I’ve discussed how Oregon State, Washington State and the PAC commissioner all have a self-interest in expanding the conference to avoid eventual dissolution, but nobody else in the conference does. If the PAC membership drops to just Oregon State and Washington State and at that point the PAC is unable to even raid the MWC, then the PAC commissioner will lose his $5 million a year job. The PAC commissioner therefore has a self-interest in adding two teams so that membership will only drop to 4 if the Big Ten and then the Big 12 raid. However, the PAC commissioner doesn’t actually have a vote on expansion, and I’d be surprised if he could get anybody except for Oregon State and WSU to vote for expansion.

1. Wilner is a clown.

2. This is a 21 page thread about Dan Patrick's comment, and this thread is still being posted on. So I think that Dan Patrick's comment is no small part of why people think SDSU is headed to the PAC.

3. Wilner is getting his info from the PAC commissioner, who has a self-interest in expanding. If PAC membership gets reduced to just Oregon State and Washington State and the PAC-2 isn't even capable of raiding the MWC, then Kliavkoff will lose his $5 million a year job. As will all the other ridiculous number of employees at PAC headquarters.

The PAC commissioner, Oregon State and Washington State therefore have a self-interest in adding teams so that membership will only drop to 4 if the Big 10 and Big 12 raid the PAC. But the PAC commissioner doesn't have a vote, and Oregon State and WSU are just two votes. I really don't see how there will be any more than two votes for expansion.

ESPN put pro rata clause in Big12 contract. So why would ESPN offer pac anything worth staying in the pac for, right?

Only thing I can’t understand is, if all but Wasu and osu think they’re leaving, why not help Wasu and osu out by keeping pac alive? How does that hurt the departers??

because a utah-arizona game to decide who goes to the PAC CCG is worth more than a Utah-Arizona game to decide 4th place in the Big 12 and maybe a slightly better bowl spot. ESPN is protecting themselves with the pro rata--they have ESPN+ to show extra games anyway.

Quote:Only thing I can’t understand is, if all but Wasu and osu think they’re leaving, why not help Wasu and osu out by keeping pac alive? How does that hurt the departers??

1. the schools going to the Big Ten HOPE they're leaving. but they don't have tickets yet. they could be "about to leave the PAC" for a long, long time.

2. the 4 corner schools PREFER the Pac. they'll go big 12 if they have to -- big 12 was West Virginia's 4th choice if it were up to them-- but not if they don't have to.

so splitting the pie 12 or 14 ways vs 10 for the next 5 years. and who you associate with, are a big deal.
