RE: ****Week 10: FAU @ FIU, 7pm EST, Saturday, Shula Bowl XXI
Difficult to say. FIU has invested so little in sports to this point and made so many poor coaching hires under the previous AD. Things have been a mess in athletics. Meanwhile, at FAU the football program quickly made a splash hiring Schnellenberger to start the program and later made a home run hire in Kiffin.
The new AD, Scott Carr seems a lot better and we could quickly see the contests getting more competitive under the guidance of a better AD. FIU is still a strong public university and well respected university in Florida, probably next in stature behind UF, FSU, UCF, and USF. The main thing FAU has done better is invest a bit more in athletics and hire better coaches. This could quickly change under different leadership. We’ll just have to see.

The move to the AAC will bring better recruits to FAU, more money and it will attract better coaches.
The culture at FIU won't allow the football program to get better. No matter what AD or coach they bring. It is just my opinion

Why? I think his opinion was made whether you agree or not.
Do you have a counter?

Let’s try this again, I would like him to elaborate on the culture comment. Might seem hard to believe since the internet is generally a terrible place full of horrible people, but I am genuinely curious about his reasoning.

I never really understood that whole "culture" thing. Does the FIU Administration really not want to win? They have made a collection of wrong hiring choices, but I do not know if that represents a "culture". Around year 2010 or so, if anyone was to make a guess, FIU looked like a better athletic program of the two. it is not anymore and I don't know whether it is "culture" we need to be blaming for it, especially that it is the least defined term out there. But everyone and their uncle is using it.
