This is a solid hire IMO. This may end up being the best hire made by an AAC school this year before its all said and done. Time will tell. I feel like we should have a rank the new hire thread. There’s been so many this year. Navy is on the clock next. It will probably be Bohannon or Newberry for them. Just a guess.

I'm thinking Herman is the best hire until proved otherwise. Still think this will be a great hire.

Despite coming from Washington State this past season, he's been coaching in Texas most of his career. Incarnate word took a little time but he finished there with a pretty strong season.

The Morris hire was a bit of a head scratcher to me. The UTSA guys had a front row seat to Morris at IWU, so they may know something we don't. But, I trust Mosley knows how to evaluate coaching talent. I was happy to see that on his first day in Denton, Morris was in living rooms meeting with recruits, and on his second day, he was at the local high schools meeting with coaches and players. I'm going to wait and see what kind of recruiting class and coaching staff he pieces together, before I make any judgements.

Looks like a safe and underwhelming hire. Have not seen North Texas play in many years but I suspect Morris will have a steep learning curve in this league. The biggest issue will be recruitment of OL and Dl that can compete at AAC level. Strange hire imo...

this was a fan appeasement coaching change and an "easy on the new AD" decision

Littrell Seth Seth Littrell had probably hit a plateau and the dozens of very vocal north Texas state fans were ready for a change, but what do you do

bring in a coach with a totally new system and see wholesale change in the portal and a total rebuild

keep LSSL for another year with a new AD that wants to make a splash and show he is not just a "move up" for the last guy he worked for and if LSSL barely does enough ride that for yet another year.....or if he fails get questioned about why he was not fired last year....or perhaps watch him have a breakout year and leave (you know he would leave) and then you still have dozens of angry fans because he left and probably dozens of angry fans of you do manage to pay to keep him

the easiest thing to do is make a change, bring in a guy that is basically the same and pretend that a new version of rah rah from a "fresh face with new energy" will finally awaken the comatose "giant"

that at least buys 2 or 3 years of easy street for the new "move up" AD before he has to take any heat for the new hire if it does not go well especially moving conferences from the CUSA to the AAC

You really don't have a clue about how or why Littrell was fired, or why Morris got the job. You are just guessing. You have no clue about the direction UNT is taking our athletic programs. Let's face it, you're one of the people that never believed UNT would get promoted out of C-USA. I'm sure it won't take long for fans around here to figure out you live to troll UNT.

Personally, I think North Texas is better off with Morris.
