Part of that book seems to be ramping up the physical play vs. Vik, and causing him to get into foul trouble or tweak his balance enough to make him miss.
Vik's foul trouble is a huge issue for this team and teams' being able to get really physical with him on the road could be as well. The drop off from Vik to everyone else inside is just enormous and he's an elite rebounder on a team of below average to poor rebounders. UC's rebounding numbers going into the Temple game weren't bad, and an enormous part of that was Vik. Temple was the second truly awful rebounding game of the season (Ohio State being the other).

RE: UC at Temple game thread
The red flags may have been just looking statistically not terrible against all of the 300+ Kenpom teams we played in the friendly confines of 5th 3rd.
Part of its we don't have a single junkyard dog...Vik is really good at his kind of game but that's not being a guy who likes contact. I'd give an eye tooth for a guy with range from 4 feet who takes it personally and punishes people in the paint and who would chew off his paw for a rebound. Been a while.
Other part is we play a style on both ends that too often has the 3 and/or 4 standing around outside of the arc.
To brighten everyone's day as we look ahead to the B12.

This. I can't watch a full UC basketball game. The lack of rebounding zero interior offense makes me unable to watch this team.

I'm so sad to say this but I haven't watched the past several games of UC basketball. It's a shell of its former self.

After they blew the 13 point lead in the first half I checked out thinking that I'm not going to put myself through this again.

This is the biggest issue and also the thing most likely to cause fans to turn on Miller. Fans want to see Bearcat basketball, Bearcat toughness and effort. Sure more offense than we've had in the past would be nice as well, but it's not what has defined the Bearcats for the last 20 years.
On the most recent podcast, Chad and Co were talking about who we have who can be a leader in the locker room and in practice and demand guys give 100% all the time. We don't have that guy. The problem is, to demand that from other players, you better be a junkyard dog who brings it every day in games and practice. Nolley and Davenport can't be that guy, because they take plays off even in games. DDJ is taking on the role of being a defensive leader, but it's not natural to him (and he's apparently a pretty quiet guy).
Maybe it could have been Newman. We don't have a single Gary Clark/Tre Scott type who you know is going to go in there and first for every rebound on every play. That's a concern not just for this season, but for next season (and maybe beyond). We not only need to find that guy, but to develop him into a player and leader who has locker room respect. Maybe Skillings or Reed can become that guy, but it's not clear they will be. I had hope Hensley would be, but I've pretty much lost all hope of that happening now.

Eric Martin, Erik Hicks, Curtis Bostic, Terry Martin, Bobby Brannen, Kenyon...
That's just off the top of my head.

Yup, it's a long list. It seems like we always had at least two of these types of guys on any given team. Even if we were bad, they were going to make sure we outworked the other team.
Then Brannen took over, Tre Scott graduated and we haven't had one (except perhaps Newman) since. Wes needs to find us some, preferably a couple of Freshmen who will stay four years and help establish the culture. Skillings/Reed could be those guys, but it's not obvious that they will be in the way that it was when Gary Clark for example was a freshman.
