I think they will threaten, but I would be flabbergasted if they actually did that. But who the hell knows?

It took 133 ballots for the 34th US Congress to coalesce around Nathaniel P Banks for Speaker!

They did that for Boner but for McCarthy?

The play may be for McCarthy to go over to 25 of the more moderate democrats and ask them what they want.

McCarthy now losing one more vote in 3rd round. "Others" up to 20 with about 4 votes left.

Pennsylvania just laid down the template
https://www.inquirer.com/politics/pennsy...30103.html

Jeffries does this he gets to go on all the MSM talk shows and be praised for putting the country above the politics unlike the Republicans and becomes a shoe in for the Speakership when the Dems get the House back

So, Republicans don't vote in lock step? This is what Congress is supposed to do. Disagree and negotiate. If Democrats were so smart and think McCarthy should lead the House, then vote for him.

RE: No Majority In First Vote for Speaker of the House
Exactly what I wanted the left to do with Pelosi in 2020. They aren't going to actually allow Jeffries to win this vote, but they'll flex enough power to either get someone else or get insane levels of concessions (and that number grows each time they make this fail). The left wing of the Dems are useless and for all their bluster they cave to Pelosi and company every single time the going gets even the slightest bit tough. I'm extremely jealous, because you don't ever get anything just going along.

The wrong direction was a strategy to make McCarthy look even weaker. Expect to see it get to 21-25 in the 4th vote I bet.

At a certain point McCarthy will make a deal with the Dems

He wants to be Speaker and isnt going to let this go down any other way

Exactly. This is how a Republic supposed to function. Better than rubber stamping everything and status quo continue unabated
