Question for FAU fans. What do you think of Jalen Gaffney thus far? I haven't seen any of your games and it is tough to get a true read on a player from box scores.
Regarding football, this will continue to be our most competitive program. We have spent over 75M in facilities recently and with the increase in exposure and funding with the move I am confident we will be competing for the top on a regular basis after we settle in. In 22 years of playing football, we made it to the FCS semi finals faster than any program, won the SBC Conference once and CUSA twice. We will be fine. Not sure if you were taking a little shot but it's kind of funny coming from a UConn poster and congrats on last year, seems like things have finally turned around.
In regards to Gaffney, he's been solid, did not have a great game against WKY but he's a starter on a ranked team that has depth in the position. I have to believe that he is happy with his move at this point.
The figure is a substantial sum. What did it fund? Thanks.
Apologize for the typo, that was supposed to be 75M. I corrected it. It was mainly for the sports complex adjacent to the stadium that houses the football program.

$75M is still a lot of money.

What are the plans to improve facilities? How will FAU sustain the success seen to date this season into next season?
You spend a lot of time worrying about everyone else’s program. You should spend more time worrying about your own underperforming programs tbh.

I am keenly aware of the Tiger’s shortcomings. No school is perfect and has room to improve - including Tulane. Because relatively little is known about the facilities and prospects of the CUSA6, it appears appropriate to learn more at this junction since they become members in less than six months.

I can guarantee you, though, that not a single CUSA6 facility will manage to be started AND completed in the aforementioned "less than six months". Ergo, FAU will not magically acquire a newly functional arena in time for next season. But we're here, we're joining your conference and that's all there is to it.

This. I expect your football team to be solid at minimum with Herman, I said in another thread he knows what it takes to win in this conference. Was genuinely just saying that even if your football program were to completely flame out, basketball seasons like this will make FAU a worthy addition alone. The league is still a solid hoops league, but is going to need some teams to step up and really bolster it, depth wise. Seeing FAU in the top 25 makes me confident that will happen.

Thanks, happy to see Gaff doing well. It didn't pan out here for him but I wish him nothing but the best. Seems his scoring has been streaky at best (he seemed to play well against lower level teams but poorly against top tier teams during his time here), which is why I was asking. He does seem to be getting a lot of assists the games his shot isn't falling though

You hit the nail on the head, 1 of 8 last night is an example. He does have very good games but very inconsistent. Hopefully being coached a bit this year might help.

I've got a few ideas but unsure what exactly the problem is. Part of it I think is just simple regression to the mean. Joey Calcaterra for example was shooting 58% from 3 OOC, but is probably around 20% during this 5 game stretch. It was always bound to happen, and he'll settle in somewhere around 40%, but him playing that way is definitely part of the reason we were looking unbeatable.
We also don't have a true PG, which doesn't help. I like Newton a lot, but you can tell he is more of a score first guard rather than a traditional point. Our system needs the latter more than the former. Speaking of Newton, Hurley just made some weird comments about how around the league, coaches are dealing with guys wanting to improve their draft stock, seeing an out in a couple months with the portal and not playing hard vs sticking it out and helping the team. Newton is really the only player on the team his comments may have been geared towards, so maybe there is some locker room chemistry stuff going on?
Regardless of what the issue is, it has been painful to watch

Appreciate the love WhoseHouse
No problem bud. I’ve never known you to be anything more than complimentary and cordial to other fanbases. So I just wanted to help clear up what felt like a clear misunderstanding.
Side note: what the heck’s going on with your Huskies of late? Any injuries? Or guys missing time?
What do you think is the ceiling and floor of UConn this season?
The ultimate ceiling I would still say is a natty, although at this point I am not thinking that is likely. If we keep playing this way, we will get bounced first round again (probably our floor.) Realistically we are probably a 2-3 seed, 2nd weekend type of team. We're slumping and look god awful right now, but will get better. If we get hot we can have a season similar to our 2011 season, where we came out of nowhere to be a top team early on, fell off hard in Big East play then won the Big East tourney and national championship. (Not comparing the 2 teams as they're nothing alike in terms of roster composition and play style, just saying I wouldn't be shocked to see a similar type of season.)
At this point, I will consider a Sweet 16 a successful season based on pre season expectations

RE: Florida Atlantic ranked #24
Tiger1983 has been very concerned about the CUSA6 living up to his standards, and now that FAU is ranked I am sure he is very proud and is just not sure how to properly express it. That's okay, I am sure there will be more weeks ahead for him to work on this.
Congratulations FAU!
