I am using ON3. Com because 247 has been very slow in updating. What is interesting is that new CUSA beats the MAC in recruiting, and isn't far behind the Sun Belt or Mountain West.

Never been totally sure what the differences between sites is, but we're a lot higher in rivals (actually I'm old enough to remember when the difference between rankings was basically which team site had a local guy running it to advocate for "his" guys getting better ratings or sometimes evaluated at all).

The reason I like On3 is it is generally updated fast and it averages all 4 sites grades and then comes up with a consensus grade, meaning on3, Rivals, 247, and I think ESPN.

But yet the SBC thinks that are better than the AAC.

I don't think so. That was true. on 247 but I don't think on on3. Neither Sam Houston or Jacksonville St has a bad rating considering they beat many G5 teams in rankings despite not having played G5 football yet.

Rivals doesnt have us or Sam in CUSA
247 only has us with 4 players.

Unless they have updated since last night.

I'm pretty satisfied with Sam Houston's ranking considering its year 1 of FBS coming up. We have beat G5 teams for recruits in the past purely due to our FCS dominance and location but we have definitely been able to attract higher rated talent since the announcement of moving to FBS. Hopefully that translates to the season. Last year was pretty rough but our signing day special on Bearkat Sports Network revealed to us that last season we saved money and were rolling on only around 40 scholarships plus redshirting most of the team leaving us with a bunch of 3rd stringers and walk-ons to play. It also did not help that we had an inept OC who has since been replaced and poor QB play which is the biggest question mark for us next season.

WKU essentially recruits the portal exclusively under Helton. Should expect to see us this low in the team rankings as long as he's at the helm.

The tradition of MT meeting low expectations in recruiting rankings continues! Every year we tend to find ourselves near the bottom. Pretty sure our slogan is: Watch us "....Make a Silk Purse out of a Sow's Ear"! But, we are really diggin' thru that Portal and trollin the JCs.

We did sign way more high schools guys than I was expecting...

IMHO all the classes are reasonably close in talent regardless of rankings and stars. It's the coaches that will make the difference depending on schemes and player development. That's a little scary for UTEP fans to ponder.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that our OC, Dave Warner, retired. Dimel says he will likely hire from within but he calls the plays anyway.

Class size always plays a factor in the rankings too. That’s important to actually try and compare (G5 rankings are almost pointless though).

Well the difference I'm aware of is some sites that don't have the local guy don't have all of the players.

The move to the AAC seems negligible as far as recruiting. G5 is G5 and now that the best schools have move to the Big 12, the AAC top spot of the G5 is over.

Its 2023, recruiting rankings are worthless. Its about coaches, systems in place and Transfer Portal. Recruitng rankings are as useless as this thread is.
