Seems they care about markets more than anything so whatever school is in the biggest market in the Sunbelt or CUSA they can grab.

I think adding a Army football/VCU combo would work best if both were willing to join. Best football brand available and a solid basketball program in Virginia (bridges Temple with the 2 North Carolina schools. If divisions were still a thing in the AAC, it could've slide Memphis west to compensate the lost of SMU.

...sorry to be so in the dark, but what happened today? (I've been in conference (not PAC 03-drunk) calls all day...) would be most appreciated! 04-cheers

Summary posted by CougarRed:

A summary from a friend

– Ourand: Fox will only pay pennies on the dollar

– Marchand: Amazon only wants the game of the week. Won’t pay much above market value.

– Ourand: Pac-12 doesn’t want to sell Amazon the game of the week. They want to hold on to their top game (or two or three or four)

– Marchand: Apple may be interested, but they’re streaming. They also don’t have the reach of Amazon. We’ll see what they do with MLS.

– Ourand: Pac-12 doesn’t add subscribers for ESPN. If they lose Pac-12, they don’t lose any subscribers. Disney is laying people off and aren’t going to shell out for “not essential content.”

– Marchand: CBS and NBC don’t seem interested. Not out of the question, but not likely to spend much. Turner seems to have disengaged from college sports conversation entirely.

– Ourand: There was one big deal left to be had, and Yormark got it done.

– “Things are not looking great right now for the Pac-12 from a linear standpoint.”

wow... the options are dwindling... I read somewhere else that Ohio St. cancelled a H&H with Udub... perhaps the B1G is making another move, commissioner or no?

Thanks MUCHO for the footwork, HM!!! When UH and UAB meet up in their first conference game down the road, I'll buy the first round for ya (even tho I don't imbibe...03-drunk ) 04-cheers

What are the thoughts of ESPN allowing(wanting) the AAC to take a SBC school? If they don't care then it's GSU or Texas St. to block MWC. If no, I think WKU. Unless Army is on the table, then it's them over everyone.

No worries

The acting commissioner has things well under control

WKU would probably be very low on the list of schools the AAC is interested in. They’d probably go after FIU before them. If WKU goes anywhere, it’ll be either back to the SB or to the MAC.

In order:

A) Army and Air Force

B) Army or Air Force

C) Army and/or Air Force and whomever they'd like to tag along

D) Panic!

There's self-loathing.

And then there's a Hilltopper fan suggesting an actual DI conference would choose FIU before WKU at this point in time

Why would they want a 3rd Fla school, especially the worst one?

Repeat-- WKU-small market, AAC wants large, WKU-low budget, AAC--wants much higher. No chance of WKU for AAC.

WKU ceiling-- C-USA, MAC, SBC.

FIU brings the Miami market, even though people there don’t care much about them. Bowling Green, KY is really low in terms of market size. If the AAC cared about bringing in programs that have had success, they would’ve tried to bring them in already and possibly MTSU as well (if Memphis would be on board).
