As I expected. I do not know how long he will end up staying but, at least for now, he's staying. AAC should be happy.

Anybody heard what deal they gave him? If he stays long term they should build a new arena and name it after him.

Well the guy at Gonzaga stayed there and Spokane isnt as attractive as Boca to most folks. This coach may want a program that is his.

Apples to oranges, Few is a PNW guy(born in Oregon, Oregon is his alma mater) and he had already been at Gonzaga as a GA and then assistant coach for a decade when he got the HC job.

He was also the associate head coach in Gonzaga's breakout 98/99 season when they went to the Elite Eight that resulted in his predecessor, Dan Monson, taking the Minnesota job. So while Few did take the Zags to the Sweet Sixteen in his first two seasons(and twice more inside his first decade as HC) he didn't get to the Elite Eight until year 16 and didn't reach the Final Four until year 18. If he had made the Final Four inside five years would an offer he couldn't refuse have come? Who knows, but saying a coach at a ###-major program might stay indefinitely because he could be the next Mark Few is like saying the QB you drafted in the 6th round could be the next Tom Brady.

Hearing from a number of hs students visiting campus this uweek, "Well this makes up my mind!"
With the 36,000 new businesses that opened up last year in Palm Beach and the 10 relocated Financial Corporations worth $84 billion, potential donations seem like a great opportunity for FAU.

Makes a lot of sense as there aren't any good jobs left in this cycle. Had FAU lost in the first or second round he could have jumped at one. Great news for the Owls to get him for at least 1 more season.

This. There are no more P5 jobs open right now (that I can think of), but after next season...

Apples to oranges.

Agreed. Also, Gonzaga is a private institution with an endowment about twice the size of FAU's and they don't have football, so they are able to pour everything in bball. And even with salary increase, Few makes almost twice what May will.

A great opportunity for FAU to what? Are you suggesting anything you said changes anything I said?

Counter opinions are always welcome, vague non-sequiturs will be questioned.

You do know the meaning to non sequiturs? Its a conclusion from previous statements and "may" isnt a conclusion and since I started the statement there were no previous statement to draw a conclusion.

Any ways the guy doesnt have to be exactly like the Gonzaga coach to motivated in the same way. People have different motivation whether they are an apple or an orange.

But your reply pretty much rest my case.

The non-sequitur wasn't yours, it was Boca Rocket's, the potential for donations has absolutely nothing to do with anything I said. FAU could figure out a way to pay May $5M/year and he'll still be coaching in a league that got two bids in 2023 and are losing two of it's most storied MBB programs to the Big XII. All the donations in the world won't make May a South Florida guy who spent a decade at the program before becoming HC.

Few could have had any job in the country that came open over the last decade or so and he stayed put, expecting the same of May or even hinting that it could happen because it happened with Few goes back to the Tom Brady comparison for late round QBs. I think Brady and Few are both 1 of 1 type guys.

Steve Alford was in the middle of playing in the NCAA tourney when he got a raise and signed an extension with NuM. A few days later, he was UCLA’s head coach.

Presently there's not a big job out there so, outside of unexpected tumult in the coaching ranks at big time programs, he will almost definitely be back with the Owls next season, which is all any reasonable fan can ask for in a situation like this.
