The seedlings for the NCAA DI Tournament have been released. ODU will face Utah on 5/6 at 10:00. If the Monarchs advance they will then play the winner of Drake vs. UNC at 2:00 on 5/7.

So we area 12 seed? Is that right?

No. There are only 8 teams in each region. If they seeded the bracket after the top 16 teams, it would look like this for our region. I used ITA team rankings to decide who was the lower seed:

1 Texas vs. 8 Texas A&M CC
4 Pepperdine vs 5 UTSA

3 Utah vs 6 ODU
2 UNC vs 7 Drake

Utah is the 19th ranked team in the country and we are 62nd, so we got a really tough draw.

This is how our region would look for the women:

1 UNC vs. 8 Charleston Southern
4 ODU vs. 5 South Carolina

3 Georgia Tech vs. 6 UCF
2 Florida vs. 7 North Florida

We are currently ranked 33rd and South Carolina is ranked 34th. So it looks like a pretty even matchup and will be a challenging first round matchup before the winner is likely to play the top ranked team in the country.

The women beat #34 ranked South Carolina 4-2. The doubles point came in huge as we were likely to lose the last matchup of the 2s, which would have swung this match in South Carolina's direction. We face the winner of UNC/Charleston Southern. With UNC being the top ranked team in the country, it's almost guaranteed to be the Heels.

Makes me think that pairings more or less just regional which is a good and bad thing.

Yeah we seem to have no issues with the first round match ups who are mostly similar in terms of talent like today we beat #31 South Carolina who is more on our level than UNC who is 29-1 this season with the only loss coming from #4 NC St in the ACC championship. On a positive note UNC lost once so they can be beat :)

We had a chance to sit down with Dominik Mueller. He walks us through how he got to ODU, how he recruits, the impact NIL is having on the sport and a lot more. Give it a listen if you like ODU.
