No, our schedule is not yet released. However, UT's is, and I see we play them in Austin on Monday, September 11. Also, since Stanford plays at UT on Sunday, September 3rd, I'm betting our home game against the likely #1 or #2 ranked Cardinal will be either August 31/September 1 or September 6/7th. (Nebraska is the other likely #1/#2 preseason favorite.)

I'd imagine we're doing a reciprocal with Creighton, as well. Some really tough OOC road matchups, but it will help our RPI, especially if we can win a couple. Will be fun going against Bichelmeyer at Creighton.

Nice schedule. Stanford (home), Baylor) and Texas-- all within a two-week period-- should all be preseason Top 10; USC is borderline Top 25 (with Fields a POY candidate in her final year of eligibility), while K-State and FGCU should both be Top 50. Unfortunately, the AAC slate may even be worse than CUSA.

I don't believe they play the 2nd match until tomorrow. I know Darby's blog post mentioned they went 4 sets against Brazil's under 19 national team, but didn't mention who won. Brazil clearly had the superior service game. McCardell looked fantastic once again on the back line. Not sure why Izzy is currently the primary setter. Darby appears to be at least as good a setter and is far superior defensively. The only edge Izzy has is in height. The SMU transfer MB looked good defensively, but she doesn't appear to be an offensive threat.

From Darby's blog post, it sounds like we held out own losing a "heartbreaking" 4-setter to the Brazil military team with some players double the age of our Freshmen. All 3 matches so far have been 4-setters. I gather we won the first one against the Brazil under 19 national team. No idea who won the second. Today we play probably our toughest opponent of the tour, the Brazil under 21 national team.

Carly is now an volunteer assistant coach at Texas State.

ESPN released it's preseason Power 10 yesterday, with #1 UT and #3 Stanford. Baylor not listed, but I'm assuming they'll be in the preseason Top 15, meaning over a 10-day period we'll be playing 3 of the best teams in the country (with only 3 prior regular season matches to get into form, and one of those-- USC-- will likely be borderline Top 25)...

Stanford, who always plays a killer early OOC schedule, plays #1, #4, #5, #7 and #10, in addition to Rice and Ohio State, both likely Top 20-25 squads....and then they play the tough Pac 10 schedule (arguably the #2 WVB conference behind only the Big10).

Waiting for the AVCA to release their preseason Top 25 (as season opener is only 2 weeks away). I'm betting they'll focus on the loss of Graham, Adekunle and Bickelmeyer, and less so on the addition of Weinke (a definite upgrade over Ellie) and, consequently, rank us in the #22 - #25 range.

We weren't ranked last year to start the season and that was with only losing Lennon (Shore was a last minute loss)...
