clarify this for me
when the PAC-12 collapses after colorado bolts and others leave for the BIG10...what then? do the remaining schools merge with the MWC to retain the PAC name? even if this is done to maintain a western presence, is that enough to keep their status on terms with the BIG12 and ACC? i'd rather the AAC align with SEC than THE BIG10 if thats what its coming down to

Pac-12 will backfill with the best available MWC and AAC. The autonomy status still counts for something. Academics of the remaining Pac-12 still counts for something.

You only need 8 teams to stay together and we this game again in 2030s with ACC fallout.

AAC added so many teams in the last time they can will be okay when to dominoes fall again.

Even if only Washington State and Oregon State remain, they will invite the best from the MWC and the Western flank of the AAC. A conference like that is worth more than the AAC and MWC media deals, so there would be incentive to make the move.
