The buzz is the Votto bus returns Monday. I really hope they stay hot for a lot of reasons, but one of them is so we don't have the nutjobs blaming him if we cool off (which is pretty much inevitable with the current starting pitching.)

listening to jeff brantley call that fifth inning was awesome. that's some special baseball. the team is eerily reminiscent of burrow's second year coupled with ownership possibly knowing what their doing despite the outcry for their heads. granted, the bengals peaked in squalor at the opportune time, but the formula is the same. a mix of elite young talent with a solid core of vets. granted, only stephenson and senzel, hell india's a vet with this roster, tejay... votto of course. hunter green(e?)'s practically a vet..... and i thought i'd miss kyle farmer!
This would probably get pushback in some places, but I also see some parallels between David Bell and Zac Taylor. I don't know that either is a master strategist necessarily, but they seem to do an excellent job managing personalities and creating a cohesive team. I suspect many players genuinely like playing for both of them while simultaneously having solid respect for each.

Just a little follow-up that I thought was interesting:
A lot of season left but these guys rip the ball and base run unlike any team in my lifetime! Pitching is still just ok to me.
Big series this weekend against the Braves.
There's the makings of a very nice pitching staff and potentially an excellent one over the next few years. Coming into the season, there was a case to be made that the three best or most valuable players on the major league team were Hunter, Lodolo and Ashcraft.
Unfortunately, they are all 3 currently on the IL (and 11 pitchers on the IL in total.) The somewhat good news is none of the injuries to the big 3 are to their pitching arms and they should start returning soon. Abbott's development has been a godsend, but the rest of the current rotation is iffy.
So the question is can they patch the rotation together until the cavalry hopefully returns full-strength? If so the division is definitely there for the taking and quite possibly a lot more than that.
I don't care if the Reds end up losing this opener to the Braves. This is so damn fun! I've broke out my Reds stuff that's been hanging in the deep recesses of my closet for years. The stadium is full and electric. We. Are. A. Talented. Bunch. Of. Youngsters.
