How are our Tulsa folks doing?
A terrible thunderstorm rolled through town Saturday night I think? 100 mile hour winds, all sorts of damage and they have been without power in much of the city since?

I saw a picture on the UH site where a light fixture from the football stadium fell on the roof of Reynolds causing significant damage to the basketball arena.

Hopefully, everyone there is okay and power comes on later today.

I was there last month and really enjoyed my weekend there. It’s a neat town.

I lived in Tulsa for about 7-8 months working for the Minor League Baseball team there as an intern. Loved the city and went to a few TU basketball games. Hopefully everyone there is alright.

Power isn't expected to be complete for most of the off areas until Saturday, as of this morning there were 166,000 outages in the metro area, initially there were 225,000. Mid-town got nailed, massive trees and 100 mph don't mix well.

I live in midtown and we got rocked. Trees took out my fence, my power lines, my guttering but missed my house by inches. I was lucky. My neighbor two houses down had a tree fall on the house and took massive damage to the structure, had a tree fall on his on car. We are also dealing with a heat wave coming in. Temps going to mid to high 90s and most of us are without power. It's been absolutely miserable. There is also a gas shortage happening now and so we can't even drive around in our cars to cool down.

Mine came on last night but then they took it back down around 2 today. Now they are saying Saturday by 5pm.....It was cruel and unusual punishment to give us less than 24 hours of power. Its going to be 99 on Saturday...

Wow. I hope the elderly are ok. Well everyone of course, but the elderly could really be at risk.

100 mile hour wind on storms seems to be the new norm. There was a storm overnight in Houston where a few gusts around IAH came close to that speed. But it wasn’t as widespread and pronounced, so I think the overall damage wasn’t awful.

Pretty much need a true backup generator to live anywhere these days.

As of this morning I read there were about 66,000 PSO customers still without power. Had some relatives west of Tulsa take it on the chin as well. Trees and limbs down. Some structure damage.

Personally we were on the north side of the worst winds and only had one very large tree trunk split and fall.

In addition to the light pole falling at Chapman stadium, one of the goal post uprights were twisted off the poll.

They also began a planned deconstruction of the video board today and will have a new one installed for the upcoming season.

Slept outside again as it is cooler outside than in my house. This is getting beyong ridiculous. Supposed to hit close to 100 and getting no relief. The communication has been beyond horrible. My poor dogs are miserable. At least gas is starting to show back up so I can get in my jeep and drive around to try and cool down myself and the dogs.
